Introducing Shanling M7 - Portable Hi-Fi Android Player

Okey strange. Something similar happened to my dx240 once but after a couple of days it suddenly worked again.

Yeah its way lighter than the m7 but I will try anyway to bring it to the gym :)
I thought the m7 would be alot more popular than it is but seems like the m6u has taken the spotlight now.
So I waited till battery died and then restarted it and it's fine. So odd

I went for the M7 in the end as there's a great deal with a UK based seller right now and, thinking about actual use, it's going to be more classical, jazz and minimalism than vocal tracks. Just a few tracks in, with no burn in, I'm absolutely blown away by the performance of this thing. I loved my Fiio M11 Pro which was my first DAP... but the M7 is light years ahead in every respect. Will post more on the synergy with my planars in a few days.
You certainly have a good DAP in the M7.

I have paired my M7 with an inexpensive Littlebear B4X tube Amp (changed to Burson opamps) the resulting sound is mesmerising to my ears. It is so moreish! Obviously with the M7 amplifiers not in use, battery drain is something like 2% per hour. The device remains cool, almost no heat.

I still love my M7 for portable use, but I find the Dethonray Pegasus SG1 takes up more of the portable use time.

New Firmware Update released:

https://en.shanling.com/article-FirmUpdateFeb23.html

(OTA might be delayed by few days, we recommend to use manual update)
Hi,
Do we need to factory reset after the update (or will it do anyway)?

Always nice to see the change log upfront:
1. Fixed issue causing muted output when switching between USB DAC and Local playback.
2. Optimized app behaviour affecting muted start of audio files.
3. Fixed issue with battery indicator not showing up to 100%.
4. Optimized Folder skip function.
5. Adjusted Library scan in regards to duplicating files.
6. Other improvements and fixes.

Still bugged replay gain in native music app! :frowning2: Are you testing your firmware at all?
This issue was reported to software team back in December. We can only wait until they fix it.

Not sure. I plugged my iems in, turned on the screen, then it froze and screen went blank. Wouldn't play after that, screen wouldn't return on. No response to try to turn off by holding power button on. No response ro plugging in. Not sure what happened.

Dx240 is definitely less refined. Like I said, took a while to get it up and running and it's a little buggy with hiby music app. I need to compare sound a bit more with m11 plus and m6u. The 240 is definitely lighter, which makes it more portable. It's in my pocket now st the gym wirh my z1r and I'm really enjoying it. Been using the m6u at the gym and have enjoyed that as well. I'm still tbd on which I prefer.
Mine bricked yesterday after 2 days of use. The same symptoms - black screen, no response. Sent back to seller. Obviously Shanling has a problem with this DAP.

Interestingly, I waited till the battery died, charged it and it tuned back on. Been fine since.
