Wow, identical size for the mojo2 the piggyback. It's quite thick though. If qobuz can be loaded on it it's a win for me.

Very nice device with a good OI and compact design and nice price.
I hope it will be as good as UA4 in sound terms.
Waiting for the news about the funny colors cases.
And ready to preorder it :)

I like the Shanling OS, promising little dap. Might move/sell my iBasso dx180…just for simplicity sake…
Yeah I moved off getting the DX180, especially after the price increase from bloomaudio once I saw this little gem. The simplicity and compact size is great and the price is so much more affordable even needing to buy a 1 TB microsd card. In this price range I can live without the user replaceable battery with the DX180. Another bonus is I should be able to buy the M1 Plus locally or at least from amazon.ca vs having to import a DX180 from the US.

Very tempting, does it have line out?

Every Shanling I've seen with a single 3.5mm jack has a software switch that can convert phone out to line out. Don't forget to switch that back when your are done!

on paper it looks nice. I'll wait reviews to make a decision...

That is wise. Shanling MtouchOS DAPs I've used all reviewsed well with respect to hardware. They sound great and are built well, with very rare instances of quality control issues reported.

Software is where you want to be cautious. If you primarily listen to a local library of digital files (that number less than 20,000 tracks), and don't expect to stream music from the device itself, then you are likely to be very happy. Even if you have more that 20,000 tracks, if you primariliy listen to full albums start to finish, then you might be okay with that limitation, since browsing and playing via folder view is not affected by the track limit..

I agree completely with all your points. Now, do I sell my 180? I will contemplating that…so…I do t expect too many “bugs” with the Shanling OS, but I’ll wait for a few impressions and/or reviews. But for half the cost, my earbuds will be perfect for this.
Cheers fish1050 :)

Great minds think alike! I have had a chance to try an M1S and I had no usability issues with it other than the small screen. Given the M1 Plus will have the same SOC and OS and the M5 Ultra is very solid I am pretty confident but feedback will be appreciated.

What will be interesting is the tuning as they went with a different DAC the ESS ES9069Q which is a brand new DAC chip released just last year. Also different amp chips with the SGM8262.

It has quite a bit more power on tap especially balanced (245 mW vs 660 mW) than the M1S but loses a little battery life dropping from 14.5 hours vs 12.5 for the M1 Plus. Much prefer the traditional design of the M1 Plus over the quirky looking M1S.

Since bloomaudio has raised their price on the DX180 by $60 you should be able to get more for your DX180 if you decide to sell.

@Shanling can you already tell, when it will be available from the german distributor?

We release it around second half of August, up to distributors when they order it. You can send them email and express interest into it.

Very tempting, does it have line out?

Software switch for line-out mode. Not dedicated line-out circuit.

1. Will the AirPlay work as a receiver so I can transport the music from Apple Music on iPhone to the M1 Plus?
2. Will it have USB DAC possibility?

Yes, it works as Airplay Receiver.
Yes, it works as USB DAC.
