Disappointing. I haven't had any issue reading discs with mine. Hope you get it sorted. Shanling Tech support are pretty good. Might be worth giving them a shout before arranging a return.Received my unit, 3 days ago. Tried some cds from my collection and got a playback issue on 2 of 6 CDs. One was Brand new. They both were clean, no dusk no finerprints, no scratches. The player was lying an a smooth surface, no shaking around. Am I doing something wrong? This is a big show stopper for me and I‘m thinking of retourning the unit.

Does the "4. Other optimizations" included gapless playback? I love the unit for its size and sound quality, but I had to return it because it wouldn't play gaplessly. No CD player today should be inserting gaps between tracks. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if it were gapless.

I didn't have the chance to download and test out the new firmware, I will do it tonight and see if there is any improvement on the gap issue!
No, according to our engineers that's hardware limitation due to drive used on EC Mini, not something they can adjust further.Does the "4. Other optimizations" included gapless playback? So disappointing.
Can you please give me some advises about the comparison between EC mini vs. ET3 in term of transport sound quality? No, according to our engineers that's hardware limitation due to drive used on EC Mini, not something they can adjust further.
Because ec mini have a system with wifi connection, can you ask dev to make a function transfer music to sdcard by wifi? (ssh or ftp protocol. )No, ECMini doesn't support USB data transfer. So we recommend to use USB card reader to transfer your files.
Wow, a dedicated cd transport that wont play gapless, in this day and age!
This and so many other problems/bugs/issues with, well I was going to say chi-fi, but it appears that it’s a lot of manufacturers from all over the world, releasing products with basic shortcomings and problems/bugs/failures …. It’s a crying shame!

Yes, but it's not limited to EC mini. Since no real Redbook CD drives exist outside expensive boutique units, we're stuck with data CD drives.
You'll be hard pressed to find an inexpensive gapless CD player today. The ET3 is a good value BTW. And it's gapless.
Would rather but a 10 year old CD player for buttons than buy a modern transport in that case.
I just wish the manufacturers would be transparent with the limitations of these things.
Cambridge & Pro-ject amongst others can still produce true redbook cd players for less than £250 that are gapless.
Yea the Shanlings are “transportable” and I’m not forced to buy them. Just seems a lot of manufacturers are taking shortcuts to release a product these days. The speed of Chifi releases is creating the problem if you ask me. Quantity over Quality.

ET3 sounds the best on its I2S and coaxial outputs, USB Output is nice, but not as good.
ECMini's USB output's sound quality is level below it, as the drive on ECMini doesn't match the one on ET3.

ECMini has no Wi-Fi connectivity.
