No 24/96 aptX Adaptive for those of us that don't have aptX Lossless devices?
Sorry for the delay in answering, there was a mistake in the website/posting. I have been informed that 24/96 is indeed supported!

Hope this helps.

Cheers!!

@ iFi Audio: This looks like it's going to be a KILLER product from iFi Audio. Very excited! I have one question below:

I noticed DC input as DC 9V-15V. So, your 12V Power-X that I already own will work? And your iPower Elite 15V? What could be expected sonically from this upgrade if we choose to upgrade later? And one more question, "Will iFi Audio produce an outboard digital clock at some point with galvanic USB isolation?"
Thanks for this, and I was glad to read your initial thoughts on it.

Yes, you are correct on the power supply question. As a general rule the cleaner the power the better the sound, in terms of what will work best for your ears, only you can decide that, and there are threads here for you to see how the work for others.

On the digital clock that would fall under "you never know" lol

Cheers!!

I don't think they can deliver 5W RMS for both channels with this design. The size of the headamp section doesn't match it.
I have asked for clarification here for both of you! Will post back when I get some solid info for you.

Cheers!!

I was more concerned about the Power-X and the 15V iPower Elite frying the mother board. I assumed benefits too.

No worries about this, There is a range of supported power on quite a few of our devices to accommodate different desires of Linear power supplies and so forth.

As long as the voltage is in the proper range products like this will draw the amps needed for proper operation.

Folks have reported different listening experiences in our Zen and NEO streamer lines based on the power supplies they used.

I hope this helps you.

Cheers!!

Update: I have one on the way. I’ll do my best to check it out and report back. :L3000:
I want to know the answer to this myself. I have just sold my Asgard 3 for a Jotenheim2 and it's not much of improvement. I'm running a Topping D30Pro DAC with it and it's pretty good overall. So, I'm interested to know if this thing kills your Asgard3 and whatever DAC you're using.

@iFi- audio Is the dac’s name a secret? If so, why? I understand a burr brown is used as dac on your device, I would like to know the name. I apologize for my nosy question 😁

I did consider a Jotenheim2 and wondered if it would be an upgrade to my Asgard 3 that uses the TrueMulibit DAC card. But the NEO iDSD2's launch "hype" did catch my eye.. So I thought I'd give it a try.

I'm not sure if my Apple M1 MacMini really supports the NEO iDSD2's available CODECS even using Tidal. I do primarily intend to use it with my wired headphones. So BT isn't a priority. However it the NEO iDSD2 supports my B&W P8 headphones I would welcome that. Sorry to be such a newbie regarding higher resolution music, but I've been corralled in Apple's "walled garden" since the //+. I'm hoping with my current equipment the NEO iDSD2 isn't overkill. Note I have Audeze LCD-2, Sennheiser HD-650, Grado Hemp, and Dan Clark Aeon 2 Noire cabled headphones.

I also use B&W P8, M&D MW75, B&W P7Pi7S2, and AirPods Pro2 BT headphones. I wonder if any of these can take advantage of the NEO iDSD2's high Rez BT?

Are there any articles anywhere that does a direct comparison of original iDSD and this new version? Looking more for a spec comparison, not so much a review of the sound differences. Thanks!

Very good question. I see the original is still listed at full price at several retailers. I’m wondering once the new one starts shipping if the original might become a bargain (depending on people’s needs of course).

The Diablo is spec'ed to have 4,980 mW (@ 32 Ohm). 5500 @ 32 ohms is a little more power. I like that it has Xbass and Xspace.
That spec was instantaneous peak. If you think about it, there's no way that anything that size could output near 5W without melting components. Its actual output is under 1W, and that's measured at 300 Ohms. It's only 600mW at 32 Ohms, which is quite sufficient. Given the high voltage output though, at least on paper, this kind of amp is a good match with high-impedance headphones. I don't see why they are willing to risk their reputation putting out what amounts to false power outputs just to look a bit more impressive in their specifications.

That makes me willing to bet that the Neo iDSD 2's actual power output is under 1W as well.
