Introducing MOMENTUM 4 Wireless

No I just watched already many YouTube videos and made a summary of its strengths haha

I admit the way I wrote it was ambiguous That I already own it but unfortunately, not yet 😄
No worries. I'm curious to hear real end users' experience since I expect more objective feedback. My main concern right now is whether the new Sennheiser owners made compromises which will impact the build/sound quality. They made the pricetag lower than the v3 so clearly something had to give. Unless they feel charitable :D

I would argue that the fit and finish is actually nicer on the 4 now that I've seen it in person and used it for some time. Yes, it looks different and looks are subjective so if someone prefers the retro style versus the new it's just apple versus oranges and well live with it. We feel confident enough in the sound and build quality that we are already jumping right into a tour so that you can hear from the community and not just me haha 😁

That said, I am receiving an M3W shortly so that I can do some side by side dims comparisons for everyone following along. It will be a few weeks before M4W hit shelves so hopefully this helps those looking to do some virtual research. The comfort has certainly been upgraded and sound-wise it is some of the best compact closed Sennheiser voicing I've heard from the team, even with ANC on. The smart control app customizations are genuinely useful opposed to gimmicky. Please subscribe to the headgear page or product or thread and you'll get the 3p impressions as they roll in 👍

why everyone is ditching the folding capability of wireless portable headphones? That's the only thing i didn't like from the latest sony
The thinner profile fits a lot easier in today's EDC bags. If you turn a backpack to the side profile and look at the compartments as "slices", this design feels less bulky from a thickness perspective and becomes part of the sandwich without protruding too much.

I also tend to prefer headphones that fold flat (and in the case of the M4 vs M3 an added benefit is when you wear them around the neck), but let me respectfully be a little bit of a contrarian : it's theoretically feasible to have your cake and eat it.

(Of note is the slant in the rotation mechanism that aligns the yoke with the headband for a flatter profile when folded vs a perpendicular rotation mechanism)

But I guess that designing headphones is a question of compromises and the ones Sennheiser chose for the M4 might overall suit what I'm looking for.

Are the earpads fairly easy to replace btw? A set of real leather pads would prob do wonders for these.

I think so given the way they're fastened :

And in the user manual :

Explicit mention that they'll be available on Sennheiser's website which is a major plus over some other ANC over-ears.

I would however be very careful about changing pads on headphones with active filtering. I don't know how the M4 would react but on some of them the results are quite catastrophic :

The 800-1.5kHz region is the transition region on the APM between the feedback range below and the passive range above, something seems to have gone horribly wrong here with the third party pads.

lol yeah similar to my reply in the other thread, I guess it's easier to store "slices" rather than "ball" in general backpack situations. Since most people will be carrying laptop, tablet, books......etc in their backpack I think.

I pre-ordered them at my local Hifiklubben, I had a gift-card laying around anyway :)

The M4s are pretty cheap, and with an insane battery life, I'd like to get a pair of mid/high-tier ANC cans in the future, but don't wanna spend that ammount of money right now since none of them support the future LE audio.
