Introducing CL2 Planar (Impressions Thread)

Tried some Sony hybrid tips, they restrict the stem and muffle the sound. I think the Klipsch tips are gonna do the same.
Found some skull candy wide tips, and they open up the soundstage and are super comfortable.
Based on what I hear, the spiral dots are gonna be where this iem is at for me.
Need a wide stem.
I'll see if I can cancel the order for Klipsch tips. Fingers crossed.
AAAAAHHHHHH man no sound like this when you are listening with comfortable tips that seal properly.
Audio Nirvana.

Yeah I concur from tip rolling only those who are as wide as the bore match well, the Tennmak are a must try IMHO, they're simply the best tips I have found so far.

Also, after a full night burning pink noise at moderately high level, the CL2 sound much smoother and fuller and this is good news to me :)

I'll try those tips. They are the cheapest around, and I am gonna need a collection at the pace I am going.
The Cl2 are expanding my musical library, Jazz, Folk, Instrumental, you name it.
These play the highest highs and the lowest lows effortlessly.
I am glad you are enjoying your set, looking forward to your comparisons after you get more listening time under your belt.
And yes the mids get much fuller after a proper burn. :)
Between this and the xelento, I will be covered I think.

I found them on amazon.com and they ship to europe, good to know it will improve even further, can't wait to get Hansound Audio Zen 4 wire balanced to try them with the CL2 :D

Do you have other DAP or Amp to try? I am considering purchasing DX200/AMP8 to drive CL2. Carrying iDSD is too cumbersome.

I don't have another DAP but I still have to try with Mojo. DX200/AMP8 is a killer combo, bonus now is the upgrade to Android Oreo (8.x)

How is the bass response with the tennmak? They are not too shallow fit for the CL2?

Yes this set.

The bass response is great (I use the black ones), I need to do further tip rolling to check out other wide bore tips so maybe there are others providing more bass but I have enough of them with the Tennmak tips and the overall balance is better.

The fit is not too shallow, you need to push them all the way though.
YMMV depends on your ear canal.

Edit : Oh my the CL2 pairs beautifully with Mojo, great synergy IMHO

If you wanna see what this IEM can do all rolled up in a nice neat package. Listen to some Lindsey Stirling. If this doesn't convince you that this thing is a keeper, nothing will. :)

Hey guys,I am just going to get straight to the point, I have been following this thread since it started so I wanted to ask how does it fair between something like the andromeda, vega or ie800, where does it fit between those iems and is it worth buying, btw my first ever iem I have ever bought was from rha because of its good build quality , and also a more detailed description of the sound signature.

I can only compare this to the vega.
The Vega has a bass that hits harder than the CL2. The Vega is like a cannon going off in your ear, the mid bass bleeds over into the lower frequencies, and takes over the signature. Mids were recessed and the highs were lifted, I thought somewhat artificially, and sounded a little off.
The bass response on the Vega is its calling card, and it does it fairly well.
The Cl2 has a bass that is more responsive, with better decay, and is more about quality than quantity.
The sound is very precise, it's all about details and resolution, with musicality. Highs are always in control, and it plays the highest of notes without losing any of the other frequencies.
I returned the Vega, I thought it was okay, but for me the Cl2 is on another level.
I would also be interested in someone comparing this to the andromeda, because I think that is where its competition lies.
It is a step above the Vega.

Not yet, but they don't have as wide a stem as the CL2 bore from what I can see, contrary to the Tennmak.

I haven't heard Andromeda, but I have owned for a long time (almost two years) both Vega and IE800, as well as IE800S.

Both Vega and IE800 have more bass presence than the CL2, mainly because the CL2 has « cleaner » bass with no mid bass boost. This being said the CL2 has great bass kick and it probably extend lower or anyway has more control and detailed bass with more texture. I don’t see the CL2 as a basshead IEM (from the sources I have used so far, YMMV), but as a neutral detailed IEM with a lot of energy both down low, in the mids (thanks to the upper mids) and up top.

There are commonalities with IE800. They both have very energetic signatures (this is much less the case with IE800S), but contrary to IE800 there is no harshness and no treble peak on the CL2. Soundstage is very similar, wide but the CL2 is airier and imaging is more precise. They both feature great clarity and transparency. The CL2 is more natural sounding although I think the IE800 has better timbre but let’s see how it evolves as the CL2 burns in and also how it does with other cables. I think if you liked IE800 you’ll like the CL2 as it basically is a more mature tuning of the same philosophy of exciting tuning. The only thing right now I would say IE800 has the edge is the mids, but that’s for my taste as I prefer warmer mids. The CL2 mids are quite neutral and accurate.

The Vega is nothing like the CL2. It doesn’t care about being neutral although the mids are fairly accurate. But its massive bass presence is overwhelming and it needs a good source to have some kind of control over that huge power. There is much more mid bass than CL2. The highs can be harsh at times although not as hot as IE800 famous peak.

Last but not least CL2 is fast, very fast all across the range this makes for great PRaT. The CL2 has a great sense of rhythm.
It’s speedier than both IE800 and Vega and by a big margin, more akin to top balanced armature IEMs.
