Id try to take it to the place you got your impressions, maybe they wouldn't charge you.

Does anyone know if a audiologist generally charges for shaving the customs? I'm thinking maybe I should take my monitors to the audiologist I went to because I'm not really sure what is bothering me because it varies from time to time, if I push it in to complete the seal then my anthelix hurts but if I put it in where my anthelix does not hurt, I don't get a seal. It's really odd and I don't know what is the real problem, my guess would be that it's the anthelix part of the monitors that is causing all the problems but I'm not really certain.

Yup, exactly what I was thinking. And honestly I feel better taking it to someone who can sit next to me whereas myself guessing because I myself don't really know what the problem is. It's extremely hard for me to pin point the problem when it hurts one day and doesn't hurt another day, now I'm thinking the canal may not be thick enough because I can't get a good seal.

That is very strange that you can put them in your ear a way it doesnt hurt and then again in a way it does hurt and that it hurts sometimes and sometimes it doesnt. Mine only go in one way and there is no play in them to move around. They are where they are. Are you sure you dont have a sensitive spot in your ear somewhere even when the monitors are not in. Like a pimple or something. IDK, just speculating.

You are correct though, even if the audiologist cant make any adjustments they should be able to help pinpoint the issue. I would bring the impression they made initially in with the monitors as well so they can compare.

I'm positive there's no pimple or anything at the spot that hurts, if I put it in the way where my anthelix is comfortable then I don't get a good seal but if I put it in a way where I get a good seal, then my anthelix starts to hurt after about 10 minutes or so, such a weird situation. That's a good idea to bring the impression along with me to the audiologist, I didn't think of that.

well Inearz received my refits today. Let's see if they can get them out to me by Tuesday or Wednesday so I might be able to receive them before the next weekend! All they have to do is make my ES5 shells the same as my TF10 ones... how long could that take...

When I went for my impressions, the audiologist first examined my ear with a camera probe (saw lotsa teeny tiny hairs in my canal, eww, and boulder-sized particles of wax that my qtip had missed, ewwww).  Anyways, she noted a cyst just behind the bend on one ear.  She said that it would be unlikely that the IEM would rub against it, but marked it on the impression for me anyway.    She did say that it is pretty common for a customer to have some type of cyst or pimple in their ear, and would be a source of irritation for many.

Just wondering guys, what should we wipe down our monitors with? Seems nasty if there's sweat or something.

Not sure if it matters with acrylic. I mean I wouldn't use sand paper... I'm planning on storing my TF10 reshells, which I'm going to use at the gym, with the desiccant pack that came with the Westones, to prevent moisture from damaging the drivers. I don't know if the outside matters too much.

Right now I just threw in the silica pack that came with my ie8 into the box where I store my monitors, I guess that's fine right?

i throw mine in a bag of organic grass fed beef jerky, i think it has a dessicant in there somewhere

but as for a serious update -- i think i'm keeping my first refits. they aren't 100% comfortable in that I can still notice/feel them, but i don't really have any pain or noticeable discomfort and i have a better understanding of adjusting them now.
