Because they have very thin bass and clamp easily! (and they were like $15). A few minutes with a dremel could turn the solid plastic back into a colander..
Is this worth the effort, or is the blu-tack mod more recommended? (I may just do it out of spite.. as that HD201 is the 2nd-worst headphones I have.. barely besting the stock iBuds).
It also occurred to me.. is the blu-tack just for adding mass? because if so, a more permanent mod would be to use epoxy putty (a.k.a. JB-Weld). or is that too rigid and wouldn't damp properly?
