Ultrasone HFI-780 should be well within your range and fit the electro/techno genre well.

I suggest a pair of Grado's for that type of music. I talked to a Head-Fier that said the SR80 with a good cable (Cardas, etc) are very similar to say, the GS1000. The Grado's I have read alot of positive things of them, especially for rock music as you like.

What is your source for music?  Are you going to use some sort of amp?  Also, what headphone type do you prefer; over ear, on ear, in ear, etc...

I'd go with SR80's with a Cardas cable or someother cable that you like. You may think they are cheap (they are), buy i have heard alot of good things about them especially for your genre of music.

HFI-780 will play rock quite well. They are great for high energy music and have a good amount of bass. The ATH-M50 is also a good introductory phone that you could find for less, but the HFI-780 should out perform them in almost all aspects.

I think the HFI-780 is a great headphone with a lot of bass impact for your electronica and (after the very long Ultrasone break-in period) great highs to accommodate rock without sounding too harsh.

ignore this guy. Cables Can NOT And Will NOT Change How a Headphone or Any Thing Sounds for that matter.

if your head or ears or both are large ultrasone 780s are not going to be a good headphone for you they are probably the only headphone ultrasone makes that doesn't sound like complete crap some other lower price ones also dont sound bad.

audio techinica m50s good headphone not perfect not a lot of bass
sony mdr-xb700 bassy still not terrible at all better then m50s in the bass department ohh yes and they are like wearing pillows
if your over seas try and pick up a mdr-xb1000

In your opinion.  This is not the time or place to discuss the efficacy of after market cables.  There are many whose opinions differ markedly from yours, and their opinion is at least as valuable as your own.

If you have no experience with them yourself, I strongly suggest not posting. Reading is one thing, genuinely knowing is another. Also, fancy cables are a waste of money for cheap headphones.

Currawong, i was just suggesting. I pass what one says to another, its up to the buyer to determine what he is looking for and to buy it.
