Just when you thought Xuelin had confused us all enough with their "elaborate" naming system, they are getting ready to release another DAP.  This is one is small, somewhat minimalist in appearance and is called the 780.  It looks like it will play hi-res files.  No real details yet, but they claim it will be released before the end of this year.  Here are a few pictures:  http://tieba.baidu.com/p/4861397143.

I have some issues with the device. After charging it shows full, but then I turn it on the battery indicator shows not full. Total charging time is one and a half hour, it's a little bit strange for 3000mah battery? I use regular 1000mah phone charger. Total run time around 6 hours, playing only hi-res flacs.

I use a larger charger (RAVPower RP-UC12 USB 30W 6A), no problems whatsoever. I noticed however that the iHifi990 is a bit picky concerning the USB cable used. I tried with a thin ("flat") 3m USB cable once and it did not charge fully.

Also an update after a few weeks of usage. The iHifi990 has now become my most used DAP. Its performance, clarity, spacious- and smoothness especially with the TK13 is sublime.

This level of charge I see right after full charge. The battery behaves like 1500mah not 3000mah.3000mah could be not changed fully in one and a half hour. If this is the case, very disappointing. Regarding sound quality, no complaints there. It's superb. Anyway, I'll try different cables.

Well, for my little collection - the iBasso DX80 until its battery broke down and then the DX90 as replacement. For some music styles also the iHifi812v2. I also got a Shanling M1 recently, which pairs very well with the Soundblaster E5 over BT aptx. My Hidiz AP60 went out as a gift to my nephew.
 
But I noticed I take out the iHifi990 more and more.

How about the equalizer? Does it have the MSEQ option like it was on the xuelin 770c? This hifi player cost 4 times as much as the 770c. I wonder if it sound also 4 times better.

Sorry, I don't do EQ, I consider it a sacrilege.

The sound is better, but you pay for fitures, 770c doesn't have. Support high-res flacs and DSD. Although it has much better interface and mechanical controls. This device is in much higher level. In my opinion, the neutral and warm sound of 990 is worth the price.

Apart from upgrading it would be good in general to have the firmware image. It seems to be the typical format used by Shanling, Fiio, Hidizs, etc. which can be unpacked such that theme and translations can be customized.
