iFi audio ZEN Stream - Streaming elevated to a higher plane

Running the latest beta software. And this unit still forgets that its running on USB, and decides to choose spdif randomly. It has been years!!!

And this company is about to release another version! Unbelievable! They should fix their software first! And why do I have to run a beta software to try to make it work?

Guys, Stay away from IFI Streamer Period.

Personally, I love my ZS. It does a great job for what I want, at an attractive price compared to many alternatives. So yeah, "We."

If you truly want to be helpful, you might suggest an alternative to the ZS for others to consider without being demeaning.

Though admittedly it shouldn’t be the case to start market entry with software full of bugs and then just beginning to fix them.
Glad things improved over time but still there is a long lasting beta version and a new official release awaited for quite some time now.

I’ve had mine since last year, and it’s stayed firmly connected to USB, with no random switching to SPDIF. I’m running mine using the latest general release software, and everything is working as it should.
Maybe stop using beta software, and wait for general release, when any glitches will have hopefully been sorted.

Actually for my hard-earned money, I found Zen Stream, only the choice for best bang for your buck.
And I am thankful to iFi for releasing such an amazing product for an amazing price.
Not to mention Zen Stream is also my first ifi product and I love it.

Yes, when I buy any piece of streaming equipment I expect it to be a painful and frustrating user experience.

Look, you’re not alone. I purchase this streamer because it was advertised of chromecast update and up to now there was none just bug fixing. Get yourself a wiim and use its optical out on external dac and do A/B between the two. Using linear power supply like topping p50 on wiim as well as the dac will put streamer run for its money. Once you hear wiim and dac on linear power supply you will be addicted on listening. Don’t let low price think it’s cheap sound because it isn’t. ASR confirm it on measurement. Can ifi stream cast using amazon app? no you have to use airplay. Wiim can and it’s official now. By the end of this year it will support roon.
