When will the new version based on Volumino 3.0 be ready?

I have seen this question come up over the course of the last year, so I am asking because I am not sure what advantage this would bring?

After all except for the area of local music playback, I cannot imagine most are using the iFi app interface except for basic settings, and their local library.

You buy a streamer to use the features that comes with it and not spending monthly on a third party software to make a hardware shine. Let’s starts what I think is lacking was apps to control different music services. I have the streamer and have amazon and tidal music services. I can only use Amazon via airplay but even that I’m limited to 48khz and not bit perfect. There’s one that you cast amazon apps to streamer and will give you bit perfect up to 192khz. It’s maybe the world first and cost so little and I think you know which one I’m talking about. Yes I have both and A/B them everyday.

Not sure where you saw this, but just to clarify, we have never said anywhere officially that the Zen Stream will/won't support Volumio 3.

At this time, I do not have any additional information to provide, but if that changes, that will come from our development team officially, and we will communicate that here.

I asked same question before. I believe they will just stay on version 2.

Hope they keep up the software development / improvement as this seems to be where things are lacking right now and not using the full potential of the hardware.

Another thing: friends I know have dropouts when using ROON only mode connected via SPDIF. Is this bug already known and will this get fixed?

Could you provide some more info on your friends issues? It would be helpful to determine what's going on.

I have been on USB for awhile now, I will switch to Coax to see if anything presents itself.

He already filed a ticket (using a Devialet and a really sophisticated setup) but was sad to experience dropouts when using higher sampling rates like 192 KHz which a number of songs are provided in the meantime.

This is unfortunately a real dealbreaker for quite some users. Hope ifi can sort this out quickly.

BTW, since my ZS is set to Roon, it's a PITA to switch back to universal mode to check for updates. Will any updates be announced in this thread???

I have switched to Coax this morning, running since I posted without a single dropout, I have been focusing on the higher rates as well, 192 and up.

Perhaps if any details are available we can help here, as we often do.

Usually someone comments on current firmware or Beta firmware here, but in the meantime in the Troubleshooting thread I will try to keep up to date with the Current, and Beta firmware versions.

2.31.7 is current

Think the Beta was 2.31.8, lol, guessing as I type.

Is the back of your ZS inaccessible? I ask because while I agree it's not convenient the placement of the dial for mode being where it is, but it does only take a second, I actually leave the little orange too right behind my Zen for quick changes.

No, I can get to it. I've understood that you need to turn off the ZS before changing the dial. Am I mistaken???

I remember iFi saying no need to turn it off to switch, so since then I have not been and have not had any issues!

We do update when firmware announcements are posted in this thread!
