Hi,

Is there option to avoid pressing button first to pair to new user ?

It is great sounding via default ldac from my samsung note 4 although it defaults to adaptive and not 990kbps and I wish to purchase one more to replace existing one in my car.

However, pressing button for new user is not an option which my existing one does not need as it is to be in inaccessible rear boot tyre area.

Cheers.

No I don’t think so. Pairing button has to be pressed each time to connect to the source if starting off frfresh from a disconnected position.

That's affirmative.

Hi ifi audio,

Can firmware be updated to have password access instead like even much cheaper BT modules available widely?

As mentioned, it may not be convenient or even possible to physically press it.

Do not think either power consumed for constant broadcast for non mobile AC gadgets or/and security for a mere BT gadget are major concerns for owners and potential buyers.

Frankly, it also makes touted max 7 or even 1000 saved pairing redundant if one has to press button every time.

Cheers.

Richard

I can't say at the moment whether this is doable, but I'll pass your request to our R&D. Thanks for your feedback!

Reading with interest, complete newbie. Just bought a Zen blue and connected > Onkyo CR715 > B&W865’s.
Issue I’m having is having to crank up the volume for an appreciable change.
Will a passive preamp help?
Onkyo input impedance 50kOhm
Thanks

Thanks for giving our ZEN Blue a green light! How do you connect it to your Onkyo? Digitally or through RCA?

Thank you. I'd check whether volume control on your smartphone is set to max level and RCA inputs in your Onkyo are within the industry standard.

Also a suggestion: please try sending signal from your ZEN Blue to Onkyo digitally. This would engage ZEN Blue as a DAC, which would bypass a DAC built in your Onkyo. Sound quality could improve!

Thanks for your reply.
I should have mentioned earlier that I had already tried input via digital, audio level is the same. Further, Id to use the DACs processing.

Yes I can ramp up the volume on my phone but still have to crank up volume on the Onkyo.

Onkyo RCA input are within industry standard.

Doesn't going digital out bypass the internal dac?
Also how would that affect volume, are the digital and analog outs different voltages?

...wait, what? So output going through the RCAs by passes the dac? The dac is only enabled through the digital outs?

It does, my mistake, I thought one thing and wrote the exact opposite

Also how would that affect volume

It wouldn't affect volume, but it most likely would affect sound quality in one way or another.

As above, I reversed the order, my bad! Going RCA outs doesnąt bzpass internal DAC, and S-PDIF out does.

Let's make a small detour from the usual hardware stuff to one of our crew, Aimée. She was kind enough to answer several questions, so here goes!

IMG-4967.jpg

What's your role at iFi?

I'm the company's Marketing Assistant, which means that I share my time between regular office work and iFi audio's social media

What's your favourite iFi device and why?

My favourite iFi product is the xDSD. It was my first-ever DAC/Amp, and I've never let go. I love it because it's portable, so I can clean, cook, work and travel while listening through my headphones!

What type of music do you listen to?

My music preference definitely depends on my mood and it ranges from folk, alternative rock, reggae rock and indie pop, to pretty much any 70's & 80's music, jazz, and western classical (when I'm in the 'focus mode').

What are your favourite headphones/IEMs?

To be honest, I don't think I've found my 'favourite' headphones yet...there's too many to choose from! I'll try whatever is available at our UK office and there's a lot of stuff in there. HifiMan and Meze just to name two brands. I like Susvaras A LOT but rarely can use them! While I may not have found 'the one' just yet, I'll give a try to whatever lands near my desk.
