To Leeroy Jenkins or not to? That is the question…

Let me first introduce you to one legandary (and a bit nerdy) World of Warcraft video...

If you'd like to know what this has to do with audio, please take a look at our latest blog entry HERE

Although the original review is Italian, here's the important part:

"xCAN can be a great companion for any portable source, eliminating any power limit and making it very transparent...Excellent construction...A lot of power and control" - Stereo-Head

Hi to everyone, hope you all are in good health

I just received yesterday mi brand new Ifi Xcan and after about 6 hours of use it began to sound only through the left channel. After doing a reset on my computer and charging completely the Xcan i thought that everything should be solved but it got worse. Right now i only hear a static noise through both channels and no music. The only strange thing that i could notice before this behavior was that the amp was very hot, but as it was my first use i thought that it could be it's normal operating temperature (i was using it with my Audeze LCD2 so maybe it could sweat a little bit moving big, demanding cans)

The problem affects both to the SE output and the balanced one. It doesn't seem to be a connection problem through bluetooth because trying desperate solutions i've connected my headphones to the balanced input and i could hear the music from my pc sounding (very low). So it looks like i have a defective unit, but before sending it back i wanted to know if someone here found the same problem and, as a last opportunity, if someone knows how to do a hard reset on it.

After 15 days waiting for it to arrive it's been really depressing, it was my little hope in all this crazy pandemic scenario... Has anyone here any answer for this sad dumb??

I'm sorry to hear about the issue. Let me ask you first whether you charge your device during playback? If not, then I'd like to ask you to open up a ticket at our support platform here: https://support.ifi-audio.com/

Our support staff will investigate and do their best to help you out!

I've just opened up the ticket, thanks.

No, i'm not charging it during playback. The problem began before charging it, i did a full charge just to be sure the humming wasn't an energy problem...However, i also tried to use it while charging just to discard possible solutions. The constant hum continued. I've also tried through bluetooth and 3.5mm input. Looks like i had bad luck...

l just got a form to send mine back with a ticket because balanced out was broken after 2 months of use. because I love the product so much I bought another to use while I wait to get the origonal fixed because I use it literally every day and thought my Mrs could have the other once fixed + hoping for better luck. it just came from amazon tonight and i turned on the new unit to find the xbass and 3d doesn't work at all im absolutely gutted so back goes this one for yet another (literally nothing happens at all and have a/b'd with other xcan waiting to be posted). didn't expect ifi to have qc issues I own black label and that works a treat never had an issue. 3rd time lucky I hope. anyone else had these problems? or just my luck? I am renowned to be unlucky like

You don't have to apologize, anomalies happen, even Ferrari has bad units and even Mac Donalds can serve a good burger... My experience is making me reliant about IFI because of the reaction. Costumer attention for the moment is being great.

no worries just managed to get out of the house yesterday to send it back to Amazon. the one I'm getting fixed on warranty should be sent off by tomorrow because I just got sent the form to fill in from your customer services to send off with xcan that needs repaired. and I just ordered another from ifi amazon that should hopefully work that I can use while your repairing my other one. I really hope it works out this time 🤣🤣🤣

Likewise! And also thanks for understanding! :beerchug:

I can't believe it !!!! what am I doing wrong? the exact same thing on the one that has just come today is broke. the bass and 3d button are not working not at all one bit in either modes through either output! the light is lighting up but nothings happening and I am still A/B ing with an other . I'm getting so annoyed at this. I'm going to have send this back and do it all over again. can I request someone at ifi to try my next xcan before it gets sent out? I don't mean to be an arsehole but I could not be more frustrated at this. especially as these are 300 quid a time so far 1 balanced end goes within 2 months and now 2 in a row that have come with the exact same defect? I don't understand 😫🤯
