The non-digital signal processing that 3D+ and XBass II offers is like icing on an already delicious cake.

I love this thing...

After 40+ years of selling audio gear, primarily highend stuff, the xCAN is one of the most impressive pieces of gear I've run into.

I look forward to more iFI creations....

This is a great sounding amp and gets better with each day I use it. But it doesn't get anywhere near 12-18 hours between charges. More like 5-6...

Oh well....next?!

Thanks! Btw. batterly life depends on a connected load. The tougher it is, the faster battery insdie of a product will be drained.

I am thinking about connecting the 2.5mm balanced output of a Cowon Plenue D2 to the balanced input of the xCAN for a balanced in and out setup. Is this a good idea?

I connect my Onkyo DP-X1A in this way to my xCAN. When you do this the xCAN is solely an amp, with the DAC in the player doing the D to A.

If you go bluetooth between the two, then the DAC in the xCAN does the conversion before amplifying the signal. It only functions when bluetooth is used.

I haven't really compared, myself, but you might want to, to see which sounds better.

The xCAN is one of the best additions I've made to my system.

Hi,
How much powerful is the bass boost on xCan?
The bass boost on FiiO A5 is too much for me and I would have liked a 3 steps bass boost.
For me I just need a little bass boost, xCan or Monoprice THX AAA portable?

I can't really answer this with any accurate +db rating, but the bass boost of the xCAN is just perfect for me. I'm not really a bass head, but I am a rocker and the XBass II of the xCAN is perfect for me. The fact that all frequency response changes are analog and not done digitally really makes a difference.

No real experience with the Monoprice, but it has no balanced capabilities and considerably less output power compared to the xCAN.

It would take something really special and maybe otherworldly to better what the xCAN does, in my opinion.

I like xCan's form factor and features better than Monoprice but the only thing that bugs is the EQ in Monoprice.

Bass boost in xCAN is audible so that you can hear it engaged clearly, but tastefully done and not overbearing.

While I love this little amp and what it offers in the analogue domain to sweetin the sound, the method of switching between bluetooth and line in is not very well done, in my opinion. Sometimes it seems to work immediately, other times it gets to the edge of being thrown against the wall in frustration.
