Jan 23, 2023 at 9:29 AM Post #46 of 103
Does the Uno work with Playstation 5? I did not find this information anywhere. I am considering of buying one for playing on my console. If it works it will be exactly what I am trying to find.
Hi there, we are are working on this at the moment. I can't give you a time frame I'm afraid but we will let everyone know when we have a firmware that can do this.

I have not fixed my issues with sound. I tried DPC Latency Checker https://softfamous.com/dpc-latency-checker/ and LatencyMon to see if my OS is not doing some hickups: https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon
But my system is fine.
Hi there, I'm jumping on these replies while our normal HF Guru takes a short break. I'd suggest dropping out guys a line at https://support.ifi-audio.com/ if you haven't already and they may be able to help. Please give them as much info as possible. Thanks.

In today’s review, we take a look at the Uno on Headfonia. An article by @nanotechnos

We've also given it our Recommended Buy award, well done!

This setup with the Meze 109 Pro sounds unbelievably good!
Being an audiophile and an audio blogger I am sorry that iFi is not giving clearly the specification of the Uno.
I compared the Uno with the iFi Go bar. I am using UAPP Android application as one of the best source for a DAC/amp. Go bar was clearly declared by iFi as being a full MQA decoder, so I changed in the MQA setup page of UAPP to MQA Passthrough and the sound quality was much better than before (when UAPP made the first unfold).
I was almost sure that for 79 € Uno cannot be a full MQA decoder, but tried to leave MQA Passthrough setup and it worked also for Uno!
My question: does it mean that Uno is an MQA full decoder, or the UAPP application works even if the device is an MQA renderer?
So far I love Uno, it is a much better value than anyone would expect from a 79 € device!
It can be declared as an audiophile device and representing a phenomenal value :)
And one more thing: I do like better Uno's volume control that the one on Go Bar.

I was considering buying the Go Bar, but I don't have any MQA source.

So as a "normal" non MQA device, does it compare well to the sound quality of Go Bar? I'm home 99% of the time really don't need "portable". I'm just curious to try the iFi house sound since I never owned any iFi devices.

Or am I better off getting the Zen Air DAC?

EDIT: Forgot to say, nice picture!

It depends on what headphones or IEM you are using?
I do believe that for 80% of "ordinary" people the Uno's sound quality is not just acceptable, but most of them would find it extraordinary :)
No MQA source:
You should try TIDAL Masters it sounds so much better than other streaming services,
except QOBUZ, but the latter is said to be less user friendly than TIDAL and not yet available everywhere.

I am on the fence :frowning2:

For the office (HD560s and BD Tygr 300R): new iFi UNO or second-hand iFi ZEN DAC ?

Ehhhh......... Lawton TH900......?????? :sweat_smile::sweat_smile::sweat_smile:

LOL to be honest I think I probably don't "need" the Uno but it's so cute I kind of want it, and maybeeeeeeeee could use it later when I have to go back to work in office again one day. Still working from home at the moment though. :joy:

For the office I would say buy the Uno.
It sounds great and much easier to use than a ZEN DAC.
Just notice you that ZEN DAC has a USB-B socket.
In an office it is much easier to use Uno with a USB-C to USB-C cable connected to your MacBook Air.

iFi Uno is such an adorable device. Fits in the palm of your hand, has proper RCA-outs and offers 3 different hardware EQ modes. I absolutely love the volume knob, perfect friction, and feels solid when rotating.

The noise filtering inside is fairly good too. No noticeable hiss when connected to my PC and plugging in Campfire Holocene (8ohm, super sensitive).

The 3 EQ modes offer different signature changes. I personally use the Music mode, other two are too weird sounding for me. But depending on headphones/IEMs, that notion may change.

I will be using it over the course of the next few weeks before finalizing the review, but promising start!

Thanks a ton and please enjoy the ride!

Also, the Boomer Consumer gets it too!

My review of the iFi Uno is out now. You can read it here: https://www.headphonesty.com/2023/03/review-ifi-uno/

In short: If you need a small, budget DAC/amp that can be easily stacked with desktop amps, then the Uno is a viable option. It is essentially a cut-down, miniaturized version of the Zen DAC V2 and should cater well if desk space is at a premium.
