iFi audio uno - Work, Chill, Play!

Who is this for?
I think it's for the new "work from home" generation who never cared about audio.

Basically trying to attract new user base who never knew audio mattered and sit infront their computer at home 10+ hours a day.

I'm of that demographic since I work from home then after my son go to sleep I hop back on for internet / game so I'm basically on my computer for a long time each day.

Except I already have too many headphone / amp / dac LOL. But I think this is meant to be an introductory device.

These days there's more focus on separate dac and amp. But few years back there were more small all in one devices such as FiiO E10K that were wildly popular as "the first device". I think iFi is trying to bring that back.

EDIT: Topping recently came out with DX1, so I guess this is the new trend now lol.

For reference my first ever device was NuForce uDAC-3 which falls into the same category.

This looks like the amp I wish was available when I first got into the hobby. I'm assuming the movie/music/gaming modes

Exactly, uno is for those users who play games and watch a lot, but aren't yet audio enthusiasts!

Who is this for?

As above, users who play games and watch a lot, but aren't yet audio enthusiasts!

Customers: "We already have one that does the same, LOL!"

"Wait, what are those three buttons all about?"

Boring and ugly is not in Ifi design team's dictionary

Thanks, we do our best to keep it that way :)

iFi goes ESS?

Thanks for mentioning that. ESS allowed us to unlock several cool things particularly useful for folks into games, watching movies etc.

Basically trying to attract new user base who never knew audio mattered and sit infront their computer at home 10+ hours a day.

That's correct!

The market needs an xCAN v2 / Hip CAN / Zen CAN Portable....Not this U NOOOOOOOOOO

I hear you, but the market is so wide that there's room for uno too :)

Thanks for asking! ZEN DAC is a more expensive product, so in comparison to uno it will be a bit ahead still. However, uno has some features our ZEN DAC doesn't have and that makes it rather special. Hope this helps, thanks!

Et tu, Brute?

iFi goes ESS?

Now, this is something that I was never expecting...
One of iFi earliest product, the iDAC, used ESS. That's from 2013.

How does the iFi UNO compare vs. the iFi GO Link? I see they use the same chip. From a website I saw:

The UNO:
Also supports DXD encoding? (actually, Go Link has this too according to the iFi website)
2-Channel

The GO Link:
Has a Lightning Adapter

I was planning to only use this for airplane flights (not daily so the size doesn't bother me really). I will need a usb-c to usb-c cable for the UNO of course.

Is it worth the extra $20 for the UNO?
