iFi audio Pro iDSD (Official) - NEW Firmware - MQA and more.

It is worth to change power supply to linear on Pro IDSD or Pro ICan?

We got a mixed feedback on this subject. Some people say it's worth the shot, others would say that the one already provided is good enough. But if you have access to a linear PSU our product will work with, to try it would be an experience to gain.

Maybe is placebo or maybe not but i think that with new v2.08 firmware Pro IDSD sounds even better.

Also folks, Pro iDSD Firmware v2.08 is now live on the website: https://ifi-audio.com/downloads/

Many, thanks for the update. A comprehensive list of the "Other minor optimisations and bug fixes" would be useful to decide if the upgrade is worth the trouble, as the operation is rather complicated.

I doubt I'll ever get a honest answer, but I try again anyway: when will gapless playback, through ethernet connection, be available? Next month, next year, never?

It took me less than 2 minutes ... and it is dead simple you need help ?

It would be, if I still had a laptop... With a desktop, it's a harassment...

Thank you anyway. If you come to my place, some day, I'll let you do all the (un)plug job. Then we'll listen to some good music, while drinking some Belgian beer.

What? I have desktop and it is still ultra simple.

It's a detail, but if you insist, this is why I call it a harassment:

I must
  1. Turn off the unit.
  2. Unplug all the connectors: ethernet, XLR interconnect, power supply.
  3. Remove the sorbothane feet that I put under my unit.
  4. Unplug the power supply (which is attached to a stiff Wireworld cable).
  5. Take the unit and its power supply to the room where my desktop is.
  6. Turn my computer on and upload the new firmware.
  7. Find a suitable cable for the unit's power supply (as I don't want to move the stiff Wireworld cable).
  8. Connect the unit to the computer with the USB cable that I only use for this (as it is an " old printer cable" that I don't use anymore for any other gear).
  9. Find that pesky software that's hidden somewhere into my computer's file system (a clean, proper software would have been too simple, I suppose).
  10. Turn the unit on.
  11. Launch the pesky hidden software, wait the upgrade to perform.
  12. Turn the unit down.
  13. Unplug the unit from the computer.
  14. Unplug it's power supply.
  15. Move the unit and its power supply back into my listening room.
  16. Plug in the power supply.
  17. Plug in the unit (power, ethernet, XLR interconnect).
  18. Set back the sorbothane feet.
  19. Turn the unit on.
So yes, I don't feel like upgrading the iDSD firmware, unless I get good reasons to do it.

Basically, when I need to update my camera's firmware, I just need to copy the new firmware on the SD card, and my camera do the rest.

I went back to firmware 2.01. I had the feeling that the ethernet connection was not that stable (wired lan) with 2.08. Also the playback always stopped when I switched from "APP" to another input (and the chosen album/playlist vanished, I had to chose it again for playback). With 2.01 I have not this issue.

Possible to check build number?
Press the input rotary in the startup screen - the new firmware will display build date/time and at the right hand the version number.

With new firmware that option is gone...

It's always worth the effort if you'd like to have some additional bugs squashed. We'll ask internally about the list.

Also, folks, if you see anything off with the 2.08 firmware, please do let us know, thanks!

We noticed it, thanks.
And filter Transient Aligned is now Minimum Phase.

I don't know why but i rechceck my firmware and it was v1.38, i again update to 2.08 now its evrything ok.

Can you make volume remote cotrol more accurate just like in Pro ICan? The jump up and down is too big.
