iFi audio Pro iDSD (Official) - NEW Firmware - MQA and more.

I personally think there's a memory leak issue in the software programming of the DSD. I can get high res files to play just fine, and even put it on repeat for hours on end. However, more often than not, if I change playlists quickly or often, then the same content starts to stutter even if it were working great previously.

I wonder putting music on a SSD will help. If idsd never hiccups with DSD with USB. It shouldnt be hardware issue.

I capped DSDs to 192/24. This took care of it. I don't think I can tell the difference between 192 and DSD64/128, etc. Sounds freaking mindblowing good.

send that to their support bc they said they don't care if it's just posted here

I am sorry, should have posted this with a smiley to make it clear:
It is a saying in Germany cause of this well known film many of us here look at again and again at Dec 31. We repeat this saying, kind of dry humor, when something may happen again and in a funny to grotesk way - Thorsten might know it well.
I was teasing a bit but harmless by laying my finger into this - well, matter of prolonging the long awaited change, this time not just bringing iDSDpro itself to market but at least with the desired 4,4mm socket. Kind of "let us hope so".
So to supply it later:
Cheers, tinnitize

All good, thank you for clarification. :L3000:

As for 4.4mm on Pro iDSD, we honestly want to release as much as our customers who want this option. Worry not, we'll get there!

Oh but we do care! The thing is that we have a tech staff used to various issues (they've seen far more than we did!) and their help as far as any issues go is the fastest.

Weird

Haven't used the Pro iDSD for a month and powering up tonight, the WiFi didn't connect. My WiFi is fine (my phone and notebook is connected to it as we speak in the same room)

Normally you get a voice prompt saying it has. Tonight NADA

Then I tried looking for it on Muzo or on UPNP via Audirvana. Nothing showed up.

Then I tried using WPS to connect to my router. I held and pressed the WPS button till it said WPS Pairing - then it disappeared (while my Linksys app kept WPS enabled for 2 minutes). But it never connected either. Any way of doing a system reset?

The Pro iDSD manual I checked out on the phone seemed very scant on any real set up steps

When I see things like that happening I reboot the router first. That normally solves the issue for me.

here is the issue with that. it is a band aid solution. I would suggest all with this condition file a trouble ticket with I-Fi with a thorough description of the issue with the steps that lead up to the failure. whether or not it is repeatable and what your entire network hardware and software config. is. I would also include your ISP and modem used. you would be surprised how much upstream garbage can leak into your network if your ISP has issues (I.e. leaky line and connections).

I-Fi cant research every possible config during R&D, so passing on that info is vital in helping them find a solution

See, sure, you could go through all that. Of course. But do it after you reboot the router. It's so easy and it is often the issue.

I thought I figured out the problem. It's Windows Defender screwing with DSD playback. I turned off Private Network Firewall, it's been super smooth over the network bitstreaming native DSD. Just as I typed this reply, it started to stutter again. :frowning2:.

I think it's a processor or network issue. This happens both with Audirvana+ and Jriver. I just can't figure it out so far.

Here you said PCM192kHz is ok?

I capped DSDs to 192/24. This took care of it.

If so, then it's probably not the network.

PCM192kHz requires slightly greater network bandwidth than DoP64 (which needs similar to ~PCM176kHz).

So if PCM192kHz is ok then the network is probably not the cause of your DoP64 network playback issues.

Are you running the beta v2.0 firmware?

Have you tried rolling back to the very stable v1.6 firmware?

I think I finally figured it out with Jriver's DLNA. I need to run "PCM L24 no header". I was using "PCM 24bit" option. Apparently Pro iDSD doesn't play well with the latter option. I haven't had a single stutter in over 1 hour. Hopefully this keeps up.

I'm on 1.6 stable. I haven't jumped to 2.0 beta.
