iFi audio iSilencer+ and iDefender+

What kind of noise is it? And if you hear it in just one channel, I strongly suggest to check all connections first.

It’s like background current noise. i.e when i turn up the volume the noise volume will also increase (not playing any music). If I switch my speaker to Bluetooth/airplay mode the noise will be gone. So I’m pretty sure that’s something wrong in my aux set up and that’s why I’m considering getting an isliencer/idefender

Also, even I took out all the DAC and AMP connection and use a aux cable (3.5mm to 3.5mm) to connect my MacBook Pro and ma speaker directly, the noise will still exist exactly the same. So I really think it’s due to noisy signal from my laptop.

Any suggestions which should I buy to improve this issue? Right now I have an ear buddy from IFI and connect it between my laptop and speaker indeed reduce the noise a bit but overall it’s still very audioable

Can you please tell me what kind of a speaker it is? I assume that it's an active wireless monitor?

I'm thinking that if it's active, then that noise might be internal and related to power.

It’s kef LSX, it can be used both wired (through AUX cable or toslink ) or wireslessly (airplay Bluetooth)

This actually might be an issue inside these KEFs. I'd call/mail KEF and ask them first.

I called, they said it should be due to ‘dirty power’, but I have this issue only when playing through aux Cable, through airplay is perfectly fine

If the product is fine, then it might be related to power. I'd start with AC iPurifier as noise cleaner and indicator whether your earth and polarity are in check.

How does the iSilencer3.0 compare to the iSilencer+? Which one would be smoother sounding in the highs with better bass weight?

No offense intended, but I think you're going about this the wrong way. Neither of these products (or anything similar) is going to give you a huge change in the way you seem to be looking for. What they will do is lower the noise floor and let the source signal come through a bit more.

Don't get me wrong, I love my iSilencer+. But if you're looking for a change that can clearly be perceived as "smoother sounding in the highs with better bass weight", I think you will be disappointed.

I'm wondering if the tantralum caps on the Silencer+ make the sound any brighter vs the iSilencer3.0

I'm basically looking to upgrade my Jitterbug, I need better RF/EMI supression than the Jitterbug has to offer on my Windows laptop. Basically, the more is surpressed, the smoother and warmer (less grainy) the sound will be. But I wonder if the tantralum caps have any additional effect on the Silencer+

hi,
both are huge upgrade over Jitterbug. I tried Jitterbug, and found that it oversmoothed everything, killed dynamics. my one cent :)
I agree with TopPop, that the iFi units will not change the sound signature (smooth highs, etc).
Both iFi devices make the background blacker, definition of instruments better, imaging more precise. I assume due to the extra usb recklocing in iSilencer3 the bass became tighter, dynamics stronger, and made separation of instruments even better. YMMV with different dacs. I used and found the iSilencer 3 beneficial for example for Audiolab M-DAC, Lotoo S1, Meizu Hifi Pro,iFi iDSD Nano BL, Chord Mojo. For using with a mobile phone the iSilencer+ is more than enough. In a desktop environment, for a good dac with inefficient USB power filtering and error management I would suggest the iSilencer 3. Hope it helps.

I'm using it with the Chord Mojo and a shielded Moon Audio USB Black Dragon cable.

So the iSilencer3.0, does reclock the signal more than the iSilencer+, is that correct?

I actually don't want reclocking at all, I only want the RF/EMI surpression.

isilencer+ just uses active power filtering, while iSilencer3 also recklocks the usb audio signal, providing better signal integrity, better usb audio input for the dac. i think it is worth getting at least the iSilencer+ for the Mojo.

Both iSilencers (the 3.0 and the '+') are noise suppressors and as such they don't provide reclocking. The smallest one in our range which does is iPurifier3.

Thanks for the clarification.
It was a typo from me in all my responses, written iSilencer+ instead of iSilencer3, and iSilencer3 instead of iPurifier3 :)
iSilencer+ is the older version of iSilencer3. Had both, iSilencer3 is a much improved version I think with much better sonic results.

So my answers, how I meant :)
