If I can find those models for sale anywhere, are they still functional???

As a manufacturer we stopped making them and don't have any stock left, but the odds are that some of our distributors and their resellers might still have some left and perfectly usable. Hope this helps, thanks!

A good tip to get more out of your ipower x. If you are handy with a soldering iron, replace that cheap n nasty dc cable with something better ( i used deuland silver, probably overkill), disconnect the led lights at the board ( noisy) and also replace the short wires going from the board to the plug inlets. Massive improvements to background noise. And before anyone here gets on the snake oil bandwagon, save it. This tip is not for you.

We were wondering when someone would go after these mods and congrats, you're the first :D

On a more serious note, products easy to use and packed with utilities are our way to go, but it's always cool seeing when our customers get some extra mileage out of them, thanks :)

I'm thinking of getting this for my Squeezebox Touch, still has the original wall wart (in lieu of Spending major dollars for a streaming box of some sort). Anyone try it?

I haven't seen any such a comparison, but I'm sure that someone tried iPower X with Squeezebox Touch given how popular these were :)

This is for iFi Support...

Since there is no earth ground to this unit, does it matter for US use which way the i-Power X is plugged in?

I am using a 5v version with a DAC now. Plugged into US outlet in direction as if there was a ground on the plug (which there is not). I do not want to just try it both ways and there is a fire risk or hazard. And lastly does or should the i-Power X SMPS work better plugged in one direction versus the other? Thanks and appreciate your time!

There's no difference how you connect iPower X, it will act the same both ways. Thanks!

Bought the IFI iPower X recently for my Zen DAC V2 and I must say it really made a noticeable improvement. It's smoother without losing the details, a bit more weight to the bass notes, easier on the ears with less "digitalness" if that's a word. The sound just flows more natural and more silence between each instrument/tracks within a song.

It's not night and day different but still perceivable assuming one's system is revealing enough to showcase the differences. Will listen more for any additional changes.

I bought a Zen dac/amp HDXX combo last year that came with two iPower X models. This week I bought a Zen Hifiman combo (it will go to my other home in another country) that came with two iPower2 modules. I haven't seen much about the iPower2 vs the original iPower and vs the iPowerX. Can anyone clarify what the iPower2 brings to the table? Thanks.
EDIT: I subsequently found my answer in another discussion, where an iFi rep said: "Our iPower X (white) is quieter than iPower2 (black), so better. The first batch that included the former as a bonus is now sold, hence iPower2 instead that's still very good!"

Just read this again. I'm using a Squeezebox Touch, not clear to me which version of the iPower x would best (how powerful)? And when I searched and went to the iFi web site, it seemed that the micro iUSB 3.0 was recommended more than the iPower x. It's supposed to increase the resulution from 24/96 to 24/192, though I don't get how, since it isn't a dac or change the digital signal out of the Squeezebox.
Just wondering...

Just bought a Elite 15v for my M2 Tech Young Mkiii, is there a break in period for these, had one for my iCan Pro Signature but with my DAC I'm finding my stock wall wart sounding less compressed and all around just better" :/

I received the "new" iPower Elite from Amazon yesterday. Strangely, the box was not shrink-wrapped in plastic. It looked like it had already been opened and taped back shut. The power supply itself is working fine, but I was a little put off by that.

Got mine from Amazon as well, and came the same way. And didn't sound any better than my wallwart so far
