i using headphone amp powered by 5v dc, when i plugged into ipowerx the sound become a little aggresive and harsh/metalic, compared when its plugged off using internal battery warmer, smoother and more natural.
Is the power from ipowerx still not clean enough and still affecting the output sound of headphone amp?

It depends on a product really. Perhaps your headphone amp was designed to work best with batteries in the first place?

Yes i think using battery is more portable and cleaner without any interfaring noise from external power, which are usually dirty (with common adaptor 5v or from usb-pc)
my early expectation buying ipowerx, this could give clean very low noise power to headphone amp and make sound no different compared with battery, but after i try , its not bring result that i expected.

iPower X has its noise level vanishingly low and comparable to batteries, so your results have to be specific to that amp. But please allow iPower X to work for several days and things (especially that metalic tint) might improve

I have been quite skeptical re iFi audio iPower after some comments on audiosciencereview, but nevertheless got iPower 12V just to try.

Well, I can say that when using it with my amplifiers, I am very pleased with results. Specifically, I use it now with Chord Toucan and Stax Airbow SRM-253 (with polarity-inverting adapter). It seems there is a definite improvement as compared to a) stock adapters, b) non-regulated linear power supply (I have Nidec one) and c) Yamaha PW100 power supply.

I have also used it with my Chord 2qute DAC, but did not notice any change (which is not surprising, honestly, Rob said here on Head-fi that 2qute is not sensitive to power supplies).

Those guys on audioscience review never listen to the gear they measure. It is ridiculous. You have to take measurements with a grain of salt. Unfortunately, they steer a lot of naive people in the wrong direction and away from some great sounding gear.

My son has a Qutest DAC that he just bought. We replaced the stock PS with my Teradak U9 LPS and the improvement is sound was stunning. We also use it to to power a Regen but the Teradak gets hot when powering both. Unfortunately they do not make the Teradak U9 any more so I am looking at the ifi Power X for the Qutest.

I am looking for user reviews of using the Power X with a Chord Qutest or a Hugo 2 or TT dac? I am also considering the Allo Shanti but it is $60 more than the Power X.

iPower X are affordable for what they are, so if you can get one from a shop that accepts returns, I'd try it out just to have my own opinion. That's the only way to know whether this PSU will work for you well, just the nature of our hobby

That's what I will probably do. I will buy from Amazon or Audio Advisor.

By the way, the ifi web site IMHO needs to be redone. I find it confusing trying to sort out the different power gear, accessories and DAC's. There is too much overlap and it is difficult to figure out which product you need.

Our products overlap due to their utilities, but upon expanding the main tab they're separated into seven self-explanatory and clearly distinctive groups. Power products are under the 'Power' tab, DACs are in the 'DAC' setion and so on so forth.

We hear you, but feedback from users about our site as is has been hugely positive, so any changes to it in the near future are unlikely
