iFi audio iPower X - The Official Thread

Hello. I am planning to purchase idefender+ and Ifi 5V / 3A Power X power supply for my Ifi nano ione DAC. Are they compatible? I am confused by the current strength of 3A, because only 0.9A is transmitted via usb 3.0.

For a PSU, the voltage needs to be correct. The current is just the max capability of that PSU, the powered device will pull what it needs.

Voltage is "Pushed" by the PSU, so needs to be correct.
Current is "pulled" by the powered device, so as long as the PSU has the correct or higher rating its fine

Now I had a fault in the power adapter on the IFI Micro usb. I bought an IFI iPowerX. The salesman told me it might be unnecessary. I didn't promise much from it, but the difference compared to the older type is big. I use it with TT2 and Empy and I'm excited. So if you buy, then just a new type.

After more than one week of burn-in I can confirm that the sound improved; bass it’s tighter, deeper soundstage and well defined.

From the specs i cant see this is quieter then previous version ipower vs ipowerx just better capitance. Both rated at 1uv noise floor. For connecting with switch and router i might not need the better capitance? Or am i missing something? Why is this quiter or better in my usecase?

Comparing with this https://ifi-audio.com/products/ipower/

I'll get back to you on that one.

Add me to the list. Also, a 16 volt would be nice too. :)

Although I can't give out any details (or anything in general...) we have something interesting in the pipeline :)
