Sebastien,
Can you point me to a quick reference table that summarizes the IFI products and their uses along with an explanation of the naming architecture? I must admit that I haven't bought any IFI products because I could never figure out what they did so I didn't know where they fit for my various use cases. I am interested now because I got a chance to audition the Diablo and I thought it was fantastic. I got interested in the Diablo because I bought the case and saw that it was bundled with the Diablo. I got to hear the Diablo with the Focal Clear headphones and I thought that was a match made in heaven.
Hi mate!
We do have a drop-down window that groups everything into products if you go to our site.
I'd be happy to also cover as much as I can below in a short ELi5!
Keep in mind these are my respective definitions and how I keep everything personally organized in my head.
In terms of the product line:
Zen: our budget-conscious line-up more for home/desktop use.
Micro: Our TOTL transportable DAC/AMPs.
Nano: The budget-conscious equivalent of those transportable DAC/AMPs
Pro: Anything with Pro basically means it is our ToTL in any respective category.
xSeries: Pur Bluetooth line of solutions
Black Label / Signature: A special edition of a very popular product before we introduce the next generation of a model. The Signature means specifically it is, in a way, the best of the best we can do with that current product.
Music systems: All in one solution like the Aurora that are all you'll ever need if that's what you're in the market for.
Digital enhancers: An add-on that fixes a small problem you may have in your line-up that varies from set-up to set-up.
Power: Pretty self-explanatory here. There is some crossover from the enhancer line-up to things that specifically are meant for power here.
Cables and accessories: Pretty self-explanatory here as well. All the things you would ever need to get wired up and organized!
Various terms that may be helpful:
DAC: A product that has a DAC in it. We don't generally name products DAC/AMP, even though they may have an AMP in them like the Zen DAC.
CAN: Anything that is generally amplifier only.
iDSD: Stands for iFi Direct Stream Digital
GND: Ground/groundloop
DC: Direct current
AC: Alternating current
IEMatch: In-Ear Monitor Match
In terms of the Neo and Diablo:
These are new introductions to the product line built on entirely new architecture from the ground up, hence why they do not carry the Micro term e.x. in the case for the Diablo.
Glad you enjoyed the Clear x Diablo mashup, it's a fantastic pairing indeed.
Feel free to ask away with any more questions you may have from this. FYI, you can also compare product
