If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

Why not order the tips them from Etymotic directly? They now have them available on their web page.
It's $30 for the kit plus $41 shipping to the UK, which sucks, but I can't even place a UK order - 'Sorry, no quotes are available for this order at this time' - regardless of what options I choose.

Those are standard Knowles filter (same size, same acoustic impedance rating, even same color scheme). You can find Knowles filters on Aliexpress, probably gonna be cheaper than that of Etymotic.

So I have bought myself a new pair of ER4SR's

I don't remember this packaging when I had my old ER4XR's , with the stuff all packed into the fabric case like this, and only the actual eartips dangling out
the foam tips were kind of squashed from how tight it is in the fabric case

and there is the signature etymotic matching certificate... including the convenient omission of the low frequencies, on first listening there doesnt seem to be an eggregious bass imbalance, but as the foam tips wear in and as i keep listening to different sounds with them, i hope that this continues to be the case

Any reason to avoid “like new” condition amazon warehouse Etys?
I purchased er2xr “like new” on amazon warehouse a few months ago. The triple flange tips had a bunch of ear wax, but I cleaned them and I use those tips every day now. Sound quality is amazing every time I put them in

Also got my ER4SR. Can confirm that these sound clearer in the mids and highs than the XR. Bass isn't that weak except for the very deep sub bass. I prefer the accuracy of this model over the bassier XR.

Edit: The Lucid logo on the box means they come with the double flange tips although in my case, I get the intended seal and sound signature with the big triple flanges only.

Hi everyone,
less than a month ago I got ER2XR and "I think" I am having an issue with them.
The other time I was watching this video:
For some reason these produce some sort of screeching echo, also perceived as metallic buzz in one of the channels, after certain words. If it was both channels at the same time I would not be concerned. This is very prominent after around 40th second.
I tried the same video with ER4S and it is very clear, no weird sounds.

Could anyone confirm whether they have the same issues in this video or I am just imagining things?

I used Fiio Olympus 2 (left channel affected) and LH GeekOut 450 with the same effect. It was observable on LG B9 TV headphone out as well.

P.S. tested now and it seems that this might be amp dependent, maybe even laptop dependent (these are usb ports on thinkpad t450)

so i've just discovered the double flanges in the small pouch

i had no idea that such clarity was possible...

previously i was using the grey foams because they delivered the clearest sound, compared to the muffling of the large triple flanges and the lack of a seal in the small triple flanges... although the grey foams had a sort of peak in the upper mids or lower treble which made e.g. speech sound tinny or cymbals sound over-emphasized... i assumed this was something that i just had to 'get used to'

but with the double flanges, there was immediately nothing to get used to at all, other than the slightly lower levels of comfort, and also the reduced amount of isolation

Double flange sound the same as the big triple flange to me but with less isolation. The muffled sound is part of the tuning though. The ER4 has slightly too relaxed treble with an additional dip at 6-7K.

Edit: Even still I found that the ER4 has much better clarity in the treble compared to the HD800 because it doesn't have any peaks to speak of so you can hear all detail pretty much equally well. HD800 was too sharp and had too distracting upper treble.

First time Etymotic buyer yet to receive the shipping from $160 Adorama Deal of the Day. Any tips and suggestions from veteran users of ER4SR?

There's not much to it. Stick it in your ears and enjoy. I never used the foam tips. Made it sound odd, and look odd too. These headphones have the highest of clarity, sharpness hi fidelity accuracy out of all headphones. They were really enjoyable. Then the more expensive headphones came out and I had to buy those. It's like a friendly strike headphone of audio type. They could have been called Audiofriend.... I spent time with the 4P, a superior concept and seemed to go with me because the name 4P seems like the boy that I am.. The 4S sounded too thin to me.
