My laptop - $550
Bel Canto USB Link 24/96
Bel Canto DAC3.5VB
Bel Canto VBS1 Power Supply
Bel Conto M300 Mono Power Amp (x2)
MartinLogan Source (x2) - $2000

No idea if that's under/over 10K, but I'd be more than happy with it for a long time.

1xMDR-R10 heavy bass $5000
1xMDR-R10 light bass $5000

And wear each pair on alternative days on the train with my Algorythum solo & ALO MK 2 HP amp with a massive grin on my face at the weird looks I would get from all the beats disciples commuting :)

Either a good CDP or a computer, Burson conductor > HE-6, Audeze LCD-3, and probably the Taket H2.

I'd spend $1500 on my current setup, and the remaining $8500 on cocaine and hookers.

Its ok though its within the parameters of this thread it ¨sounds¨good!

With that kind of budget, I would probably end up buying the same system I have now, maybe the LCD-3 instead of the LCD-2 though.

If I was starting from scratch, with that budget, knowing what I know now, it would be ODAC > LYR > HD600/HD650 or maybe LCD-2 and be happy knowing I'm 90% of the way there.

The rest would buy me used Harley or MB convertible.

Crane Song HEDD192 ($3200)
SPL Tube Vitalizer ($2400)

I prefer studio effects to enhance music.
Vertigo VSM-2 Full Version ($10000)
Weiss EQ1 LP ($10000)
mmmm, too expensive.

A better ssd laptop ~ 1200
Benchmark dac1 USB ~ 1200
WooAudio Wa22 ~ 1900
Audeze lcd3 ~ 2000
Ultrasone pro900 balanced ~ 600

The remaining ~ 3.1 g's ought to go toward upgrading my 320kbps mp3's to lossless

electrostatic: Casea Orion Lite ($2500) + Casea USB + KGSSHV (do not have idea how much) + diy electrostatic headphone or SR-009 ($5000) ooh hell price
bigsmile_face.gif

dynamic: Orion Lite ($2,5K) + Casea USB + Apex Peak/Volcano ($2K) + LCD3 ($2K), ES5 ($1K), HP2 ($2K)

But if I had really this budget I would do everything to find what would be the best for me and try try face to face to other "for me" possible final stuff (HE-6, UERM, Alessandro Ultimate/Magnum v4 Ultimate, First Watt, diy speaker amps, diy BB Dac, diy solid state amps, Antelope Eclipse, Eddie Current BA etc... until I would find "my" final system but sadly I have to say I think my final system will be carefully selected speaker system, in my eyes headphone = compromise.

Headphones are always a practical choice to prevent noise bothering neighbors and to get around problematic room modes, but IF I had a $10,000 to blow just on audio to chances are I'm probably in a position to use speakers:

Speakers      :  Focal Electra 1028BE, $5,000
Amplifier       :  Unison Research Secondo, $1,500
Source         :  Opera Audio Consonance CD120 Linear, $1,000

Cables, etc   :  <$500 for analog IC+speaker cable (BlueJeansCable?), surge protector, DIY platform for CDP and amp

Acoustic treatments : Roughly $500 (basic room treatment - DIY diffusers) to $2,000 (if in a flat, requires some sound-proofing)

---

Or if I'll have both speakers and headphones:

Headphone    :   Audeze LCD-2, $1,299
Speakers      :   Swans M200MkIII, $399
DAC-HP-Pre  :    Meier Audio Symphony, +/-$1,000
Transport       :    Custom, small form factor PC* I use at home - if it counts in the $10,000 audio budget, I'll put in about $1,500 for a fully customized aluminum chassis with AMD A10+16gb RAM+SSD+HDD

Cables          :    <$200 for digital and analog IC
Power           :    Around $300 for UPS+surge protector
Furniture       :    <$1,000 Custom, really solid, fixed table; comfy office chair

*With 240gb SSD primary drive for Windows and latest Total War game; music stored on secondary, quiet operation 500gb 7200RPM drive

I'm still way under $10,000 here
