Mest Mk2 is my favorite IEM, but not for metal, if you try IMT Opus mia with Xelastec and CEMA PS connected to Shanling M8....
I’m listening right now “and justice for all” with a big smile, bass is fast and kick my head but also mids are fuller and highs shine without be harsh

You have found bass in “and justice for all”?

The gossips say there was a bass in the studio while they were recording it, but hardly anyone believes it :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I know it’s thinner Metallica’s album but M8 with opus mia add some body, right know I’m enjoying a lot MM

I still think iBasso IT07 or Mest are best with metal than any IMR. Although Opus Mia is really really good for any kind of music.

I have IT07, MEST MK2 and Opus Mia.
To have a great sound you should put on trash IMR cable, I found great sinergy with CEMA PS series and Xelastec tips.
I prefer IT07 and Mest Mk2 with other music.

https://www.headfonia.com/unique-melody-3dt-review/2/

Headfonia released a review of UM 3DT and confirm my impressions about bass and overall signature. These are not a basshead IEMs, but what UM did is great. I quote part of the review: "It’s quick like a BA driver bass, but it contains the air and kick of a dynamic driver. There isn’t any mid-bass hump noticeable, and the decay of the bass is excellent."

That Headfonia review of the 3DT made me purchase them immediately. I own much more technically-proficient or transparent IEMs, but this one seems... different. They arrive on Friday, I hope they replace my current 'bass' IEMs, the Fearless S8F and Dunu SA6. If they don't, that just means more variety :D
Imo they are way better than S8F. I never tried the SA6, I would like to listen to them.

I've been really close to buying a set of 3DT but haven't yet. Curious to hear how you feel they compare to the SA6. I've never really had fit issues with IEMs but the nozzles on the 3DT look pretty chonky. I do have some upper midrange / treble sensitivity, especially with poorly recorded black metal, and that's what's ultimately kept me from pulling the trigger on the 3DT thus far.

If you like and can tolerate the NM2+, I think you’ll be fine with the 3DT. If not, a little micropore tape or a Moondrop filter works wonders.
