IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution

😁😁😁

For that price is a blind purchase. Best value for money till now, imho.
Haha I'm very tempted. I'm trying to save up for the 64 Audio Nio. But I could sell my NM2+ to offset the cost of the 3DT, and still be on my path to the Nio while rounding out my IEM collection.

I really should just stay off of this forum

Hahahaha... I was thinking the same yesterday after the CA Vega 2020 purchase..... I told myself: “Why man? You have just bought the UM 3DT less than one month ago!”

Sure. I have both and tried them together. It is definitely enough uf you use them with balanced output. I never tried the single ended output of BTR5. I use 3DT only at home with my Hiby R5 Saber and 4.4 mm cable.

What are the best iems at the moment for metal under 400$? I have GR07BE (love them) and I want to upgrade. Something with solid bass, euphoric mids and not piercing highs.
Also are LZ A7 alot better than FiiO FH3?

It’s been too long since I’ve heard the FH3, so I can’t really accurately comment on it vs the LZ A7 (I didn’t have both at the same time).

For me, 2 of my favorite IEMs for metal are the LZ A7 and the UM 3DT, regardless of price. The A7 is much more versatile. The 3DT sounds incredibly natural/realistic.

I've received yesterday the Campfire Vega 2020. They are at home burning in at low volume. I will share my thoughts.

About the best IEMs for metal, at the moment my favorites are UM 3DT regardless the price.

I was considering the UM 3DT but the shells look quite big for my ears. Will take a look at the LZ A7.

Yes, shells are big, but also comfy. I was surprised to see how smaller are the Vega 2020 and how they better fit. Till now Vega 2020 are the most comfortable IEMs I've had.

I show you the difference in these pictures.
They are 2 wonderful sets of fine craftmanship, I find both gorgeous.
The ceramic shells of Vega 2020 are better than in photos.

So, how do you like the Vega’s sound in general, and with metal?

In these days I don't have a lot of time to do some comparison, btw I did a little bit of burn in (maybe 10 hours) and listened to some albums, and first impressions are very positive.
Bass are very strong and punchy, probably the bassiest IEMs I've ever had, but they are not boomy and they don't bleed into mids.
They are v-shape tuned IEMs, but to me mids are not so recessed and highs are not too bright or painful (I'm treble sensitive). For example cymbals sounds smooth and the overall tonality is relaxed. It seems to be a fantastic set for long sessions because it is not fatiguing.
I'm waiting a 4.4 mm cable to be able to do a/b test with UM 3DT from the same source to tell you more about the difference.
Btw they are two very different IEMs and first impressions are very good. I don't know if I'm a basshead, I don't think so, but I like to feel that punch of the drums, and the body of bass guitars and these Vega 2020 do it very well.
Surely they will not be detail monster but I want to burn them in for around 100 hours to give a final verdict.
At the moment I'm imaging that Vega and 3DT could be complementary.
Last but not least, they are incredibly well built and ceramic shells are so beautiful.

Albmus listened till now:
- Pink Floyd "Meddle"
- Caligula's Horse "Rise Radiant"
- Tool "10,000 Days"
- Trivium "The Sin and The Sentence"
- Korn "Greatest Hits Vol.1"

Next will be Haken, Slipknot, Metallica, Opeth, Pantera, The Ocean, All Them Witches, Primus...

If you are curious about how they sound with some specific albums or groups, just tell me and I'll try to give a feedback.
