You are right, turn on the idsd micro before connect to my computer via USB can solve the bit-perfect filter noise problem.

If I turn on the idsd micro after connected to USB, I can hear some noise in all kind of audio playback situation. Whatever it's the windows system sound or the sound of a youtube video.

Maybe there are some problem of my ASIO driver? Or simply because my computer is noisy(having dirty USB output signal?)

I will spend more time on this to find out the reason.

Your USB power supply from your PC/Notebook might be dirty or unstable. I had the same problem previously with my iDAC. Solved it when I upgraded my PC and the motherboard had a dedicated circuit to supply stable 5V USB Power ... the improvement was drastic. I believe ifi iUSBPower does the same thing :)

Does the nano iDSD measure: Good, Bad or Ugly?

Some of you have enquired as to how the nano iDSD measures* – under conditions similar to those by recognised industry bodies/magazines.

The following are our laboratory measurements of the behavior of the iFi nano iDSD using the Audio Precision System Two.

Based upon the above setup, we made the following four measurements – these follow closely (though can never be identical) the typical industry approach as used by leading audio magazines. One should allow for tolerances in the findings but there should not be any large discrepancies.

Just as an example, take the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) measurement of the nano iDSD:

Measurements conducted                      THD                                  Comment
By iFi                                                  0.02%                               -
By audio magazine ‘A’                            0.03% to 0.05%                  Perfectly acceptable small variance
By audio magazine ‘B’                            0.15%                                Measurement error/different methodology?

*Notes:
i. Measurements though scientific and objective, are subject to errors and honest mistakes.
ii. There is no scientifically proven link between “better” measured performance automatically equating to better sound.
Therefore, please bear these points in mind when you read THIS and ANY other measurements article. As always, listen for yourself and let your ears be the judge. Measurements are just that, measurements.

Well, we have crunched through a bunch of numbers and summarised the 4 key ones most often referred to.

Short answer: it measures pretty well for its class. There are no numbers that are untowards.

Long answer: Please follow the link below. The in-depth blog is here:

Hi,

Thanks yes I called up stereo today to enquire, was quoted mid to end august! WHAT??. Anyway I'm out of Singapore next week so don't mind waiting and audio drooling. Mind sharing the setup and pics of the gear you are using and pairing?

Cheers,
Manualvin

I had the same reply from Stereo, apparently the 2nd shipment from the 1st Batch have not even been shipped out yet and is estimated to be shipped out next Monday (11 Aug), so baring any issues or delayed, Stereo is telling me an estimated ETA of 15 Aug.

Unless the speaker is switched off, you will still have to unplug the RCA. correct me if I am wrong xD

Thanks for this - as an owner of both the Nano and Micro :) I'm wondering if you have exactly the same measurements you can post for the Micro?

Hi,

We are running the tests - it takes a few days to do them thoroughly and to write them up. iFi Skunkworks is a bit chocka at the moment

Previously, we did upload a little in this thread:

http://www.head-fi.org/t/711217/idsd-micro-crowd-design-the-meaty-monsters-are-flying-out-page-95/1200#post_10676898

What we can say ahead of this is that the measurements between the pre-production and production micro iDSD machines (as far as pure measurements go) are broadly similar.

Thanks

Finally got mine! Woohoo!!

As I don't care much about battery replacement, I resisted an hour and a half before firing it up

Thank you iFi Team and fellow Head-Fiers for a very good job wonderfully done!
