Hi guys, will the spiral dots fit in this IEM?

.....
also, a bit of my impressions
I really like this IEM for the details.. like, I have listened the same playlist for 4 years so I think I knew all the songs, yet this IEM keep showing me details that I've never heard before.. Amazing.

That being said, having been accustomed to ATH-IM70, the bass in IT01 definitely feels more loose.
The details in the bass (sub-bass, I guess) that is clearly pronounced in IM70 sounds both loose and weak in IT01.
Also the vocal sounds too thin, a bit too far away; so it feels less organic (especially male vocals).

But again, IT01 will destroy IM70 in the upper mids and the highs. So it's like a trade-off, really.

p.s. im not really expert in the terminology, so I hope what i describe above makes sense
You have many headhones, now you need a better source. I heard good things about the new nano idsd black and the dragonfly red, or get a good dap like the shanling m2s or the cowon plenue d, all under $200 or the m3s is 80 bucks more and you can try balanced mode with it, but you will need a balance cable for the it01's (good cable options for 30-$50 on amazon)

Also the bass in the it01 will sound a bit less bloated after around 100 hours of use :)

When I tried spinfits on IT01 they seemed to narrow the soundstage and increase the treble more so than the small bore stock tips. It was a terrible experience as soundstage reached critical low levels, and sibilance was almost there. This same "accentuated V" effect of the spinfits happened on the KZ5v2 and that was a huge nonononono (they ended up on a small bore tip IEM00 that lacked bass).

I would definitely recommend wide bore on IT01. Bass rumbles and the rest isn't bothered

I must admit when trying Spinfits I didn't get close to sibilance. I agree they get a bit brighter than they do with the small tips that they arrived in (which I still use and prefer). Sound does change, gets more detailed but slightly 'colder', soundstage did narrow slightly but i actually found the overall sound became firmer due to bass being kept in check a bit better. I have very narrow ear canal and really struggle a lot with tips with over ear IEMs, having to constantly push them back in and fidget with them for best sound.

Mids are where most of the vocal reside. And, to me, the IT01 are not mid recessed at all. The vocals are up front, when they should be and sound right for placement within the recording. Sometimes Jerry Garcia is recessed but they also did a horrible job of recording sometimes and sometimes excellent. lol

Vocals are definitely up front and very much the immediate focus IMO with slightly more volume compared with the instruments (of the mids) which to my ears sit further back in my head space. For me the focus is bass vocals treble, then the rest of the mids with slightly less amp. I will agree with MBWilson in regards to terminology when describing sound. I find a lot of general listeners and hobbyists may use descriptive terms in very different ways when trying to describe the same/similar thing (myself included... I'm far from knowledgeable in the ins and outs of wording what I'm trying to describe. i only try to improve can to can). So I've perhaps learnt something new too so thanks :)

Spiral dots fit great and are a very popular choice. (That's what I'm using...right now, in fact.)

IT01 responds well to EQ, so that may help you with the vocals. (I usually bump up the mids a little.)

Also FWIW General consensus (and manufacturer recommendation) is to allow a long (up to 200hrs) burn-in time, and that bass in particular changes as they burn in.

The IT01 are much less expensive also.
Hm, I'm pretty sure I bought the IM70 at the same price when it was released, like $100-ish

wow I just checked and IM70 is now far more expensive than it used to be
I bought them like 4 years ago lol

Yep, I plan to do so in the near future!
though I dont wanna go the DAP route -- I'd much prefer a good portable DAC/AMP combo attached to a smartphone as a transport. (which is what I do now: smartphone -> OTG -> fiio E10K -> 'phones)
I'll look into your recommended DAC/amp - I also heard nothing but good stuff for them too. thanks!
Oh, and I already have IT01 for almost a month, pretty sure it's already passed the 100 hours mark :smile_phones:

I use spiral dots on these and like the result.

But it is a bit like Ketchup. I use spiral dots on pretty much everything. No I do not work for JVC.

I'll go get some spiral dots then

I recommend Comply TS 400 in case anyone was curious which tip series would fit on the IT01.

Sound is slightly different from the iBasso provided ones. The iBasso ones are more rigid and do not exhibit as much of the memory foam phenomena that Comply does. There is also an interior tube or sealant on the iBasso which I assume is to keep the 'tunnel' clear and for sonic frequency mechanics.

Shame they don't stay in my ears though which is why I had to resort to the Comply TS 400. Sound isn't as sharp with these but slightly more mellow and full (probably better seal).

Nice! I already got some 400 before for my RE-400.

I only wanted a few but ended up with 100sets. The Comply rep at CanJam was very liberal with his dosage of Comply candies he threw at me.......

Open-back IT01... sounds great. Soundstage width seems slightly improved and more "airy" open soundfield.
Need to tune bass quantity (mainly sub-bass) to little less... without EQ. I have ideas. These drivers have serious potential.
Backplates going to CAD drawing...
