Paul... We (I at least) need dsd working when we stack dx80
Got all I want but no dsd
My understanding is that DSD output requires a USB connection, it cannot be done via PCM (optical or electrical SPDIF), so this would require the DX80 to also be able to do digital out over USB, which as far as I know, it cannot.
Can DSD be fed through USB in PCM? Perhaps DoP? Kindly enlighten me.
To do that the DX80 would have to convert DSD to PCM internally so it could be output as SPDIF only for you to then convert that PCM again externally. Double conversion would do SQ no favours obviously.
As I said, the best best option would be for iBasso to enable digital output over both USB and SPDIF. Whether this is possible via FW update remains to be seen, but as the DX80 is supposed to be able to act as an external DAC/amp (which would require digital in via USB) then this may be possible.
One for Paul from iBasso to comment on I think.
