Hail Olórin (LOTR geeks), When u set LO, usually went to the last setting, so I believe from beginning it was set to 100,When you connect it LO to the desktop amplifier, does the dx300's volume mute or do you have to set it to 100 and control it from the external amplifier?
if your external amp is too powerfull, nor the cans is to sensitive, so reducing the volume at DX300 can be an option, for me, I'll go to volume 77 with low gain...
Below is DX300(amp11mk2, LO config) - BX2plus - VC...
DF4 if you like fast transient sounding.
DF5 if you just like all loosen & enjoy the dynamic sound...

If you really need every extra juice, DX300 to A30Pro via 4.4 to XLR cable. I prefer used the AMP gain level then DX300.
I find increasing DX300 gain to high in LO config, the sounds is to forward, and loss the sense of depth.. IMO...
