How would you compare both devices in terms of sound quality?

The simple wording for it,
DX300 Better detail & layer, Great soundstage
S180 more fluid Vocal, that's all....

Layering is great
Timbre is great

More micro detailing

Faster, tighter..just more coherent.

Instruments well separated.

More an even true presentation with the vocals floating just on top or above of the music.

Amp11mark1

Bass is a but bloomy and bleeds
Bass can be woolly
Some sounds are a bit distant
Feels more closed in, not in an intimate way.

Vocals a bit more forward.

More strident at times.

Can be a V shaped with forward vocals

Not as soaring as mark2, a bit duller.

Summary

They are very close
Amp11mark2 edges ahead overall

It just does it better

Will i do a a/b with iBasso DX220 amp8EX and Max?

Maybe. Everything takes time.
If so it would probably be versus Amp11mark2.

For me this is probably my last mark1/mark2 a/b.

I also found amp11mark1 had more forward vocals… (did some repeat amp swapping two days ago - including the amp12)….compared to Amp11mark2.


Amp12 is coming along well and i am i starting to enjoy it more (than my earlier shorter 75-100 hours impressions ) as i get more hours on it - it is maturing well .

MKII is the most with intimidating vocal and mid as a whole package. This is the reason why we have modular amp card. If you are asking Ibasso to fix it, you already have it. You can trade it for Amp11 MKI and or buy Amp12. Yet, we all hear different things, and that is why we need modular amp cards. So far the Dx300amp is very capable with it DAC sections as the sound signatures would change a bit with different cards and together with digital filters.

4499 for me is better than everything ESS because it is switched-resistor architecture.

Ohhh guys you've been dreaming about the DX 300 MAX and I'm glad that the Amp 12 is now available here in Vietnam. I ordered directly and should come early next week. I'm so excited how it sounds with my UM Mest MK II.
