It sounds fantastic out of the box. Can’t imagine how good it will sound after burn in because this is already top notch. Definitely sounds smoother in the treble compared to DX220 Max from memory. It has a very clear and clean tone, sounds highly resolving and expansive. Reminds me a little bit of SP2000.

And I MUCH prefer this tonality to the regular DX300 with amp11 mk1. I find amp11 mk1 a little too tubey and warm for my taste.

Loving it!
What do you think the 300max comparing with SP2000?

I’ll definitely do some proper A/B comparisons once Max has settled in a bit, but as a rough general impression, to my ears Max is quite a significant step up from SP2K for soundstage expansion, resolution and dynamics. In terms of tone, Max actually reminds me a lot of SP2K. It has that similar sense of refinement and control, especially in the upper frequencies. The bass on Max sounds a little more emphasised in the sub bass region compared to SP2K.

I'm selling mine (DX300 MKII) when I'm back in the country on Sunday, if you are interested and can wait that long. Mint condition with box and all accessories incl. and a tightly-fitting original case.
definitely a consideration!

Is the A/B comparison base on the mango os?

Can you heard the interference sound under android system of 300max? Even closed the WiFi in tidal offline mode.
Yes, I do hear a bit of interference with my EE Odin. Not so much with Elysian Annihilator. I turned down the DAC volume and increased the amp volume which reduced a bit of the interference, but it’s still there, unfortunately.

Also, I notice that MQA tracks in Tidal are cutting out a little bit during playback. Hopefully this is something that gets fixed with a firmware/software update or something.

Man, this is sick good! The tuning is superb. That treble...so neutral and natural, but yet so clean that nuances just pop up! DX300 with AMP12 is such a good DAP but it pales next to the MAX. And that is just out of the box. Listening to Fazil Say's Universe Symphony, and I cannot stop smiling (you will know why if you listen to the movement I added below). I am testing with DSD512 and HEKse. It is a superb pairing.

Yes... I get the same. Paul at iBasso has advised in this thread that an update will be with us soon that will sort things out

So it's here and just setting up and have a few quick questions - are you guys setting the digital volume to a fixed number and playing with the analogue? I can't seem to get any sound through UAAP - anything I am missing? But I'm assuming playing natively through tidal/qobuz bypasses the android mixer crap?
