A very interesting post here in Cayin thread about noise and interference related to headphone jacks, cables, BT, WiFi, etc. Perhaps, some of it could be applicable to DX160 for those users who are experiencing problems.

Interesting thanks. Except there’s something I don’t understand: Andy keeps saying the 4.4mm connection/cable isn’t grounded. But isn’t 4.4mm TRRRS? Which would make it grounded? Unlike 2.5mm TRRS which isn’t? What am I missing here?

As far as i know 4,4 TRRS has 4 poles and no ground connection.

TRRR are used the S is not. But even if grounded, to what? There is not normally a shield or ground wire on the cables used for headphones and IEMs so are you are grounding is the S of the TRRRS (if done to the ground of the DAP or whatever else the socket is used in). If you carry a ground along the cable, then the S will come into play. Braiding is self shielding, which can be handy and I have always braided my own cables and the ones, years ago, I used to make and sell.

Just installed the lurker firmware, very easy! :) And now I'm watching music vids on YouTube with that glorious sound. And the included version of hiby works with the hardware buttons and doesn't stutter when paused.

I also think it might be the best sounding now. Good stuff!

If you could possibly see if it also helps battery life also as Lurker possibly said he helped CPU optimization and in turn battery life.
Thank you

That would be cool, but honestly for the output power and sound after the latest vanilla update is really good. Charges fast also.

As I was telling my bud Superuser my dream dap would be a slightly smaller dap with this sound and a replaceable battery like dx90 had, oh and an updated soc ;)

Something along the design and size of the new sony nwa 105 but with this wonderful ibasso sound and power. Maybe a replaceable battery would be too much with something that small.

Would be harder on me eyes too, but hey if I can dream. ;)

Ultra low gain, or a built in impedance adjustment option like IEMatch are both solutions, but both costly, and can’t be added in software as far as I know. So the DX160 is what it is, which - given its high output power, especially in balanced mode - means using it with ultra sensitive IEMs is not a good idea. Add to that the fact that all this power is crammed into a device the size of a deck of cards, and you’re inevitably going to hear hiss or RF interference or processing noise with *some* IEMs some of the time. As above, a $50 IEMatch is a quick and easy solution. As is switching to single ended. As is making sure you keep the dap away from your phone and Wi-Fi router. The DX160 is not the first dap with these so-called ‘issues’ and it won’t be the last.

You want enough power to drive HD800s and also use Andromedas hiss-free? Not really possible without some compromises or add-ons I’m afraid.

well true, i agree for your comment. unfortunately i only have and use IEM, some with high sensitivity. Is it really about hardward for ultra low gain ? in my android phone, there is setting to lower gain (well not exactly gain, its right and left balance, but actually lower its gain). But your comment make me curious, is it really dx160 can driver HD800s properly ?
By the way, is IEMatch change/affected the sound ?

How does it behave with low impedance iems? I have TFZ Exclusive King of 12 ohms and Fiio Fh7 of 16 ohms ...

I don't think there is no problem with low impedance. Its like its problem with high sensitive IEM. I have 50ohm and 120db sensitivity, i have this noise, but on my 28ohm and 106db sensitivity, no noise at all

Unfortunately, I can hear wifi noise with my Grado GH3... So IEMs are not the only one affected...

Well that really to bad. Really hope there is solution other than using adapter like IEMatch.

By The Way @Paul - iBasso can i request feature, double tab screen off and double tab screen on, so i'm not using power button a lots ?
