Well. If ibasso just write about "screen change" only and not mention about changing buffer inside.

At least, people will be less angry.

I think ibasso should learn. They dont need to tell everything.

Resell value will go down.... In just a few months.

It would suit Ibasso to give a special discount on a 2020 model for the early adopters BETA tester as we are.

Apparently they came to the conclusion they made wrong choices on the circuit Opamps and display.

On FB Paul says it's just like a car.... Yeah but a car model has a change rate from at least two years and a long announcement before.

I bet they told BGGAR guy to wait to review the DX160, because they are coming with new model. I know he uses the DX160 because of EQ

Now we know why it was never on the official website. We were paying beta testers.

Bet they fixed all the issues now and threw in more power.

I am still going to enjoy the heck out of my BETA DX160, but will not be buying another iBasso product. :v:
Same here. Rather disappointed. Coincidentally, I was looking at a Shanling M6 yesterday which seems to be quite good. Not exactly sure if the sound matches DX160. I was using a Shanling M0 before I got the DX160 and loved it for the 2 way bluetooth feature which I am missing on the DX160. The sound quality was also not very far off though not as good for sure.

I have been a loyal Ibasso fan for a long time. Love all their stuff but. I will keep a very sharp eye on if the wifi and bluetooth is miraculously better on the new 2020 version. Then we will know the real reason for the quick update.

I plan on moving onto a new Shanling anyhow but this will be interesting. Oh an I can guarantee there will be no updgrade program. I would love to be wrong though.
You may wish to look at the M6.

The product page that was never there for the DX160 on the website..... Yeah that's for sure..

So you can almost count how much they already knew?

It's a shame not much DAPs have android 8.
Otherwise it was directly on Ebay.
Now the resale price for the DX160 would have dropped by at least a good $100-$150. I'll just keep the DX160 for now since I play local files and wired iems. On Spotify I will just download the files to play. On my set I do not have much issues with the wifi even while streaming though.

a "loyal customer" is someone who keeps on buying the same brand, not someone who hangs on forever to that one product they bought ages (or 2 months) ago. In this sense, i'm sure iBasso values loyal customers ;)

in any case, there's always a good reason to keep on buying - or at least desiring...such as https://www.head-fi.org/threads/iba...ality-sound-reproduction.911378/post-15519956

Well... You do not instantly make loyal customers. And you do not need your customers to be loyal to keep them. I guess you know how a customer base is made, no?

I am guessing you are not that long on planet earth to understand how loyal customer base works.
Because you are talking sh.... And "dreaming" for DX220max?? What do you think? As you have read latest posts of DX160 BETA users? ?

Beta or not, without Ibasso releasing new version, you would have no choice. Why must you look down in your own decision and property?

Ibasso should learn, always charge for upgrades. At least $100-200 more and give Special name.

it is a shame that it has come to this. Things changed because People are unhappy. Trust me, it will only take a few to change the whole picture.

I totally see “Ibasso trying to be good and transparent, and helping people to enjoy music better”. Hell, no one was complaining.....but because “good wills never go unpunished”...

The DX160 BETA will be my last iBasso product. Well done, iBasso

We might as well call our DAPs ibasso beta160 lol. Anyway, there is nothing we can do about this anymore. Ibasso wont even comment on their own FB post nor here in headfi. Dont get us wrong here, again, we love our beta160 despite the flaws. Ibasso's timing, naming and pricing is what made the situtation somewhat worse.

This time I, respectfully, do not agree with you. I don't see them as trying to be transparent at all, and there have been many complaints on this thread alone.

When a company such as iBasso releases a product, said product should be complete and in 100% working order for all the things they advertise, and if it isn't it is up to said company to make it right, not abandon the early version, fix it, and resell it as an upgrade. All the while forgetting about the ones who purchased the earlier version. While I personally love mine, it DOES indeed have issues that make things advertised not work correctly, and many have complained about it on here (I'm sure there are also a lot of people that have said nothing due to its superior sound quality alone, or not actually needing those features). At the very least they should take the time to fix the issues that are not right about it. This is not what iBasso has done with the DX160 at all. Given they are releasing an "updated" version of the exact same DAP, and never having put the DX160 on their website, one could assume that this has been planned. This is a devious tactic at best!

Even if this hasn't been planned, why on earth would they release to public a product that isn't totally complete like a new start-up company might do to get funding to actually make things right after release? This is NOT a start-up company! (IMO) This is iBasso messing up, knowing it, and not wanting to lose any money fixing all the DAPs that are out in the wild. It is like them saying, "time-out, do-over, and to hell with all those that bought the early versions". And, $400 is NOT cheap, to be just throwing the money out there for an upgrade to fix the items that the customer should have had to begin with.

This is not an upgrade, it is an emergency fix to issues that cannot be fixed with FW, being called an upgrade. This typically leaves the owners of the first version out in the cold to ever have any support, or incoming fixes in the future. This, I could be wrong about, and iBasso may step up and do the right... something. I doubt this very much because it is also a typical behavior of Chinese manufacturers to "sell it and forget it" (eg.. Fiio).

And, this (I believe) is what has people up in arms at this point (myself included). It is not because they are putting more power output out of 3.5mm jack, and the new buyers "get this feature why can't I have it, it's unfair"?! It is the slap in the face and the big eff you to people who have already spent the money to buy a product that they are now saying (without saying the actual words) "thank you for beta testing for us, with your own money, but it's now time to move on to the important people".

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I just think that more and more businesses are not being held accountable for screwing the customer over (whether it be huge, or small). If this happened with a company in the past, there would be a recall and re-issue of product before they would resort to selling an "upgrade" that is just a rehash of the same product that has been fixed to the standard that the earlier version was SUPPOSED to be in the first place.

All of this is just my (honest, and angry) opinion, so take it all with a grain of salt, and I could be totally wrong about all of it. :)

Hard to be loyal, when they dont even acknowledge the issues, yet come out with a fixed version. Seems like a shady way to make us all beta testers.

I wonder what if it would come out that the JDI screen is worse than the Sharp's one... C'mon guys, Samsung uses different displays and SoCs in the same named models for years, and no one stops buying them just because of this reason! Be happy that iBasso is recovering from the collapse to bring you new toys during the years to come!
