It is anticipated by iBasso to still be within the 20-45 day window, likely before Chinese New Year.
This will make the perfect Xmas gift to myself!!!

I do think that iBasso is wise to avoid releasing the DX100 before it is fully ready for prime time. There have been other manufacturers who have placed their customers in the unenviable position of being "test pilots", discovering issues that should have been addressed before releasing the devices to the marketplace.

Another Sabre ESS DIY project is the "AckoDAC", I have one and it sounds pretty good.
 
I'm not an expert on DIY DAC implementation, but I don't see why this DAP should cost $1K only because it has 64GB flash and an ES9018 DAC inside.
 

You are also forgetting the fact that it has a high output amplifier as well.

Of course it matters but even the high-end amp of iBasso P4 Warbler price is 245$. But for the DX100 is stated that voltage swing will be up to +/- 8.5v that is in the area of iBasso T5 wich has 8.4v swing and priced at 169$. So I assume that amp section of DX100 won't be influencing to much on total price.
 
Agree with kiteki. There are no hardware reasons for DX100 should cost over 1K$. Even with chip es9018 itself price of around 50-65$.

A lot depends upon the op amp used so same voltage in the end, means nothing to me, except that I want enough, which 8.5 is plenty for most purposes. We have to wait and see but my gut tells me the amp section will be good and I doubt a standard configuration amp.
