I've almost read the entire topic and saw a few people using the DX80. Great synergy with the IT03? No hiss at all?

That would be my next portable setup; IT 03 + DX80 (or DX90)

Synergy with the DX80 is excellant - Ive never had any hiss from the DX80. I may be wrong but maybe some early models had a small hiss issue that some people reported?
I have never had any hissing from the unit itself TBH im not sure how you can accurately tell in that every recording has some noise floor sound that is picked up from the studio!
Even with vinylrips though Ive never had an issue with noise

Many thanks for the responses!

I had the DX90 in the past and owned one for almost 2 years. I would be very happy to discover the DX80 :)

The fit seems to be "easy" (no fit's problem) for most people, am I wrong?

And with that kind of shape, it should provide an awesome isolation?

Because I am planning to use that combo essentially on-the-go (including train, bus, and street), that's why isolation always matter with me

Edit : a huge part (90%) of my music's collection is vinyls rips (24 bit 96 khz most of the time)

:) Same here 90% is vinyl 24/96 with a few 192 & DSD's thrown in - The DX80 handles the warm dynamics of vinyl perfectly + there have been a fair few FW updates, many of which offer quite a different sound - I have 2x 128GB card and...yeah can't reccomened enough. I also had the DX90 - lovely player but the 80 is a definate upgrade!

I don't have a problem with coherency. I listen to a lot of classical and the bass foundation integrates seamlessly. Those who are used to using total BA based IEM's will notice more bass and lower bass because in general, a BA can't go this low or as profoundly. To me the sound equates to what I often hear in live performances but not in reproduced. If bass jumps out at me then there is a problem but I don't get this, unless I tune my ears to monitors that have less bass production in quality and depth. I find that the tonality of wind and string instruments to be great and the sound harmonically right. Timber is on, as I can hear the difference easily between the various types of instruments being played.

The sweet overtones on the lead violin and the emotion of the music is captured. This is what reproduction is about, to get you as close as possible to what the composer was seeking. And for me, the soundstage is well portrayed, I get a feeling of placement, layering and depth. No these are not my the same as my current reference, the Utopia but as I have mentioned in other posts, the IT03l connect me to the music and event with a musical quality that is better than many of my other monitors. How many have heard a double bass in the lower registers as it reverberates in a small hall, as it surges and pulls you along with the music? I get this, amazingly, with these IEM's.

No, no frequencies are missing.

This is exactly how I felt when I was playing those orchestra pieces in my DX90. IT03 is at its 100th hour now and it's getting more exciting!

Here are some initial impressions after only an hour of burn in. I am listening to a Dragonfly Red out of Audio Player Pro on Android or Foobar on PC.
With the exception of Omega I and 009 I have previously owned most Stax Earspeakers so I hope I have a good reference to what quality sound is.

Comfort: They fit great and are very comfortable

Details: Very good picking up all the details without sounding analytical

Bass: Wow, IEMs with nice bass. I should mention that I am very sensitive to excessive/loose bass and think it sounds nice. The bass matches very well with the mids and highs

Mids and Highs very nice as well.

Separation: Very easy to pick out each instrument or to listen to the piece as a whole.

Looking forward to how these can improve with more burn in.

Penon are sold out!
I just had an email from them stating that they are waiting for more inventory. They were happy to reimburse me in full or I could wait and they would send a gift to compensate. Oooooh, a freebie, I'm happy to wait.
These really are the proverbial hot cakes.

Anyone compared those to the Earsonics Velvet or Unique Melody Merlin?
