I've been trying to stick with the unbalanced cable as I don't have a balanced source, but the upper treble isn't 100% where I want it.
After a lot of tip rolling and fiddling with EQ I found a pretty great combo that made the highs a lot better for me. Of course YMMV.
Sony hybrids pushed all the way so the grill is flush with the tip's edge (that's the only way they will stay on the nozzle for me) + EQ: +6db on 16kHz and -3db on 8kHz.
OMG now they really sing for me
