Bump, anyone have experience with the K701's and ESW10JPN's?

I am wondering if I should convert from ESW10JPN's and an iBasso D10 to a cheaper alternative, eg. K701 + compass.

I think that you should keep your ESW10JPN and your iBasso D10. It's a very nice and versatile setup.

I have and love both of these headphones. Compared to the ESW10JPNs, the K701s are more resolving and detailed with better extension of the highs and lows, better bass quality and texture but weaker bass amount and overall brighter tonal balance. They have great space and airiness. They are not portable. They require a good source and amp to bring out their superior sound. The ESW10JPNs are not as airy or extended but have more bass punch and a better tonal balance. They sound good even without an amp. K701s sound better with classical, most jazz, and acoustic music. ESW10JPNs sound better with most everything else.

I would like to ask whether ESW10JPN fits better on ear than the AD2000 does or not.
Now I have AD2000 and get a chance of buying used ESW10.
The problem is that I don't have that much budget. Have to sell AD2000 for the ESW10. Is this worth?
A reason I want to have ESW10JPN is that I don't have any portable headphone or earphone right now( except a fake AKG K324P with a boomy bass). I want to have a good portable one.
But as you can see in this thread, the AD2000 is much better in every ways ( or almost). Without any compare to other headphones( cause I have AD2000 as the first), I am so fascinated in its enormous image and its dynamic. The feels of drum are very, very fantastic.

But, yes, AD2000 has something that bother me.
It is that 'clamp'. I am so hurted. So pain !! for long listening.

I had ES7 before and it still hurt my ear.

Does the ESW10JPN suit me?
And does it hurt me a lot? Compare to the AD2000.

I mainly listen to classical( orchestral and piano solo) and pop and some pop-rocks.

Thank you!

Did you try to bend the headband? There is a pillow mod somewhere in this forum and it does help, but you will some bass after the mod.

Tidal , do you own an amp? I have both AD2000 and ESW10JPN, if I can only choose one of these headphones. It will be ESW10, it can driver by most DAP headphone out without any issues. ESW10 offer more bass but less on soundstage/airy.

For a stationary use, I am using CARAT-TOPAZ( Dac & Amp) paired with Macbook Air.
For a portable use, I only have MZ-RH1( one of Sony's Hi-MD). I don't have any portable amp. It will be more uneasy for me having a player, a headphone, a good Mini-to-Mini and an amp in my handbag.

About bending the AD2000, I am not going to do that.
The resale price will absolutely drop. hahaha

Sorry for my English. I'm not professional English speaker.
