I'm quite sure that he only meant this for digital connections – where brightness hints to RFI. With analogue cables OTOH – especially for speakers and headphones – the treble-friendliest cable is the best in my book, the one with the largest bandwidth.

Yeah thanks, I just edited that part of my post because I realised it looked like I was contradicting Rob Watts. However wasn't meaning it that way at all. Meant what I was hearing with a piece of warm cable, was a bit too warm.

Hey TT2 owners. I've got a Qutest and have been considering taking the plunge as I'm also in the market to upgrade my desktop amp. I trust the DAC portion is awesome but I'd be very interested in your thoughts on the headphone amp side of things. How have you found the amp to be in comparison to other comparable priced amps (~$2,500)?

One thing that jumps out at my for a unit in this price range is the lack of 4-pin XLP headphone output for balanced applications. I understand that you can use the 3-pin XLR outs on the back with an adapter. Is anyone doing that? Would love your feedback.

Thanks!

Interesting question and I am wondering if I were to buy a TT2, whether it's worth holding onto my (relatively new) V281 FE.

That said, I'm also wondering if, considering that I have a Hugo 2 already, if it's not worth just buying an M Scaler first (Hugo 2/MScaler/V281 FE) rather than TT2/V281 without M Scaler. I could always upgrade from Hugo 2 to TT2 at a later date.

Hi members.

In a few days I will receive the Media Streamers Auralic Aries G1 for listening to music by Tidal, Qobuz, with roon.

This device, in addition to usb connection with the dac chord Hugo tt2, has coax and optical. I would like to connect it with coax, do you think it is better with usb connection? After all, which input should one use to get better sound?

I have to say that I listen to files up to 512, and the dac is connected to my HiFi system.
I hear very little with headphones ..

Thank you..

..sorry, I did not understand your answer.

I would like to use the coax input, so that the usb is left free to connect the NUC, to have audio and from there watching my movies, concerts on you tube and much more.

My question is: can coax give reproduction up to 512; If so, does it degrade the sound quality compared to usb? I do not know ..

Tt2 and mscaler? The hear a DAVE calling.

and use the hugo2 with/without v281 as work setup options.

(easy for me to say - I’m not paying for it. Nor have i heard a dave or macaler)

Coax is 384k max and will not degrade sound quality.

I have a art audio jots tube amp that has volume control.

I tried to use chord hugo tt2 in amp mode to control the volume and it works but only if I have the tube amp at a modest volume level to start. If I put amp at no volume you do not hear any music when the hugo tt2 is in amp mode even if turn hugo tt2 high....strange

did you think you’d hear something through the amp if you turned it to 0? Guess what same thing if you turn tt to 0. Same thing if both are 0

if the tt2 volume is turned up in amp mode why should the volume control setting of the tube amp matter. I tried the tube amp at slightly higher than zero and still no sound even with hugo tt2 at high volume in amp mode. Only when I put tube amp at modest volume can the tt2 increase the volume heard. why cant the tt2 supply all the volume or at least 95 percent.

That's not strange, that makes sense. You have an integrated tube amp, with it's own volume control, right? So you want to use the TT2 as DAC. The TT2 has a DAC mode that you can use and then you would control volume from your tube amp. The other option is to use the TT2 as a DAC/preamp and your tube amp as a power amp - in that case you want to turn your tube amp volume as high as it can go without distorting and then use the TT2's volume control.

Bottom line is if your tube amp's volume is set to 0, you're not going to hear anything. The TT2's volume control will never be able to control your tube amp's volume. You seem to think that the TT2's amp mode means you don't need to bother with the volume on your tube amp. That's only true if you're using the TT2 as the amp and driving your speakers or headphones directly from it. Then, your tube amp would not be part of the system at all. If you're using both, then both their volume controls would have to be turned up to hear anything.
