I just got my mojo early July. I was so pleased with mojo and decided to pull the trigger on Hugo2 last week. Now I am peeking into this thread.. Whaaattt...
It's okay. You have about 8 months before you need to upgrade. Start saving now.

Alright. I have a D90. I have no problem with it but have nothing to compare it to. I don't think the Mscaler will ever enter this house...is the Hugo TT2 worth the large price jump between it and what I paid for the D90? Specifically without the Mscaler.
midfi guy tries to answer that question in these videos

I owned Chord products for years and realised that some buttons are actually rotating balls only after I read about it here 🤣

Jokes aside, Chord's UI is.. unique? It certainly helps to distinguish themselves from the cookie-cutter crowd. Although, the learning curve is a little higher.

Once you get used to the, uhm, balls, you'll do fine, I reckon.

I suppose if you do get the Hugo TT 2, you'd be camping in the Dave thread after a week or 2, right?

At the end of the day, it's your money, and I'm certainly in no position to dictate how you should expend your finances. Still, your Mojo and Hugo 2 are relatively fresh from the oven, the latter, especially. Take some time to get used to their sound, and more importantly... enjoy them. If you remain unsatisfied, or you crave something better, sure, go for a Hugo TT 2.

Just remember, there are better (and more expensive DACs) than the Hugo TT 2, so this long and arduous path is never going to end. Good luck.

So much talk about balls
Chord design in term of looks can be very polarizing. But at least it's something, something different. (Chord has balls to do different things... sorry couldn't resist)
Not another square black/silver box with knob buttons and display.
Personally I always loved how Chord products looked, but as I said it's personal and I can understand that it is not fitting all tastes.

btw. check Metaxas Audio - their design is also from another planet.

Oh absolutely, it is great that they stand out and have their own take on how a device should look like. It's just I wish those balls were more consistent in the UX between different products they sell :)

One of the syndrome of staying put at home and too much watching / reading reviews, and constantly being piqued by curiosity..

I guess partly also we are sort of blessed to have fairly easy access to plenty of options around us (be it new or used gears) in 'little red dot - Singapore'. The process of trying and experimenting with new gears are fairly convenient and safe - in a way that you can almost get hold to the physical items, test and listen to it, before parting with the hard earned cash, rather than purely relying on the reviews, and sometimes going through the logistic nightmare - sorry I am off topic, and I am assuming you are from Singapore as well.

Till then, back to enjoying my current gears while it lasts!

You're exactly where I was a year ago. Got the Mojo last June, upgraded to the Hugo2 that August...after a few months found myself in this thread. Upgraded to the TT2 in May, then found myself in the MScaler thread and got that in July. Each upgrade has been worth it for me, personally...do yourself a favour and stay out of the Dave thread and TOTL headphones threads!

@rkt31 I was using Aryas directly through the TT2 SSE up until last week. They sounded amazing, really clean as you imagined. I upgraded as I could hear they were being pushed to their limit by the TT2/Mscaler and there was more to be got from those 2 through better headphones. I'm going to keep them though, when I feel like a potential upgrade for HPs, I'll go back to them for a bit and revert back to my current HPs or if I just feel like a different sound

Ha-ha that's one glorious path! I guess you are already in the Dave thread, do me a favor and please lock me out from inside!

It all started with the &@$# little Mojo and if this is part of Chord's trick to lure people in and to get onboard to the Chord's train destined to Dave, they've done a terrific job! I am currently at Hugo2 stop, and you've almost arrived at the destination 😂😂

Whatever the trick is, I've been had, haha. I've climbed the Chord ladder from bottom to the top. I started with the Mojo, then upgraded to the Hugo 2. Kept the Hugo 2 and added the TT2. After having the TT2 for a few months I add the M-Scaler. Own that combo for two years and this year I finally got a Dave. Each step has been profound step up in performance and sound quality.

The Dave is definitely worth the price of admission. The drawback is that it has made me rethink my setup. Having any external amp after it is detrimental to its sound. You can hear the drop off in sound quality instantly. Much more so than on the TT2. So I've sold a few of my harder to drive headphones for easier to drive ones and I'm in the process of selling my favorite amp, the Luxman P-750u in favor of a more neutral, more transparent amp the Headamp GS-X MK2. The GS-X MK2 does an excellent job at maintaining the Dave transparency levels and resolve. So keep that in mind if and when you upgrade to a Dave an own harder to drive headphones.

The TT2 has more power on tap and that is its secret weapon over the Dave. The XLR outputs on the TT2 outputs some serious watts and drive anything. The TT2 was a perfect DAC for the Luxman. I couldn't ask for a better combination of DAC and amp. The Dave just doesn't synergize well with the Luxamn for whatever reason. It's a crime too because the Luxamn is one of the best amps I ever heard. The TT2 on the other hand is the second best DAC I've owned. I'll give everyone a guess at what the best DAC is :)

I use the remote 99.9% of the time and there is an on-board display so I haven't had any issue with the controls, balls, colours.
+1.

I used the controls only during initial set-up. After noticing oils from my finger affects the matte finish of the volume ball, I started using the remote since then. The remote is all 1 button push so it's all good.

mTT2 has made every headphone I own sing beautifully!
