Has anyone seen any indications that the chip shortage is starting to impact supply chains for audio gear like servers and DACs?

currently at 6 weeks waiting for my TT2 to be made lol

hmmm, well that definitely seems like a pretty solid indication. Fingers crossed that it will come soon.

There's probably a shortage of chips because Bill Gates has bought them all for the COVID-19 vaccine. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Which platform are you using them on? Are you operating both in exclusive mode? If not, it is possible the volume slider is playing a role. Also make sure neither has sound normalization enabled. Finally, just make sure you are comparing the same mastering. The easiest thing to do would be to just pick a newer album that’s never been remastered.

I’ve not heard a significant difference between the two on iOS or BluOS.

EDIT: I may recall a difference between master and hifi in tidal. IIRC master may be a bit quieter for some songs. I’ve been listening on hifi only as of late, so that could be what you are hearing
Thanks for the reply. I have been experimenting with both, exclusive and otherwise. Appears, for me anyway, Qobuz appears a little louder and cleaner. Tidal is a bit darker/smoother. Harder to compare when in exclusive mode because have to turn one off before turing the other on. But it still seems pretty apparent.

I believe the fixed DAC output is 2.5V single ended. Is it the same for balanced? What volume setting equates to approx 2V when using XLR?
*cough* Anyone?

Also, is pin 2 hot? Just wondering if I should invert the phase on my amp.

Thanks

On the TT2, Pin 1 is ground, pin 2 is hot, pin 3 is cold.

My friend made a cable and did a simple test to help me determine whether the ipower elite's 3.5A is sufficient for Hugo TT2 or M scaler. We found that while powering on the TT2 and it takes a few seconds to charge the supercap inside, the peak current during the charing is only about 2A. After the TT2 is on, the input is pretty stable around 0.8A all the time (as shown in the picture), despite any setting or volume. Therefore, the ipower elite is enough for TT2. I can't remember the value for m scaler but it's a smaller figure. Also as the m scaler doesn't have the supercap inside, the psu will have more impact on sound compared to TT2.

In terms of the sound, I had a careful listen this time. In fact, I can't hear much difference for TT2 this time and I found it's quite noticeable through m scaler. However, I don't think the ifi improves the sound. It gives punchier bass but the dynamic and soundstage have been compressed a lot. Everytime I swapped back to the stock psu, I can feel it is much wider soundstage and clearer. So I won't recommend anyone for getting the ifi for their TT2 or m scaler. The stock one sounds just about right and feels no need to change in comparison. I still brought the ipower elite home as I asked the shop to order it for me. My impression for it might change after longer use at my own place, but for the ifi's asking price of $470 AUD, I'm very disappointed by it.

Just bought a Naim uniti core as source and cd ripper, now my music listening system is complete, this machine is simply amazing, easy to use, with great SQ!!!

Now my system:
PC(tidal) > iGalvanic > Hugo tt2 > HD800s
Naim Uniti Core > Hugo tt2 > HD800s

I have now been able to enjoy TT2 for a few days and I must say that as a pure DAC and with stock PSU, sounds very nice and better than I expected.

Will be excited to see how it will sound with a Farad super3 and an adapter so I can connect my hard to drive headphones directly out of the balanced outputs.

Thinking about getting a Niimbus US4+ (whenever they become more available) or Formula S/powerman to use as a separate amp.

Is the RCA the only way to do this, or can the TT2 feed an amp via the rear XLR3 or is this just for speakers (and headphones *cough* Abyss)?

You can connect both headphone and speaker amps which has xlr inputs to the rear xlr on TT 2.
