I am looking for a post. Am absolutely sure it was Mojo Ideas that wrote it. It was talking about the DCS Bartok.

I am not looking to buy the Bartok. I am hoping to read the file which was attached to the post, that opened a text document. However I can't find it, even if I look through Mojo Ideas' post history. Please does anyone remember it. I am not even sure which thread it was in now.

I was curious to red the text document, because I looked very briefly at it. I thought I saw something about the Bartok headphone amp, not working for headphones under 30 ohm.

Just with the Darko Bartok DAVE vid that swirled about a bit, I wanted to read that text page. It would be interesting to read a professional potentially negative point of view on the Bartok.

I am not taking sides or anything. I just want to read. … No idea where the post was. I think it was maybe a week ago.

I read it and was surprised as it was labelled as an internal document only not for the public. It was a word doc I believe.

Haha, you have to play this track.

I found it reading a review of some speakers. The reviewer said it's a track he uses to test bass reflex port chuffing of speakers.

the black tt2 is a beauty. the black mscaler is ugly. the silver mscaler is a work of art outstanding. i might be starting a second masters in september and i'm thinking around the clock to try and ensure i don't have to sell my tt2/hms to cover tuition fees.

"1 stereo balanced pair on 1x 4-way male XLR connector. 1 stereo unbalanced pair on 1x 6.35mm (1/4”) 3-pole jack. Full-scale output levels are 1.4W rms into 33Ω, 0.15W rms into 300Ω. Output levels are 0, -10, -20, -30dB, set in the menu. Minimum headphone impedance is 33Ω."

I don't really see that as being negative. Just honest.

The Bartok seems like an amazing piece of kit.

According to that the Bartok is a clear step above DAVE.

Hmm, very interesting review.
I am not really interested in buying a Bartok, it is way too expensive and I suspect, but don't yet know, not having auditioned the Bartok, that a DAVE /HMS will sound even bettter than a Bartok.
And if buying anything new at all I'd be thinking of getting a Dave to complement my Mscaler instead of my Qutest. My interest in TT2 has not got any high priority, unless Musickid is willing to depart from his beautiful TT2 at 50% reduction off what they retail for now in Europe.
I have heard the TT2 quite extensively with material where I also have direct experience to how things really sounded at sessions and so far only Dave /HMS have been the most convincing Chord combo for me and Qutest/HMS a combo can live quite happily with.

But what made me "listen up" and pay more attention than I generally do when reading reviews was the fact,(that unless, I got it wrong,) the reviever IS a performing musician himself and a member of the Allegri String Quartet and apart from other recordings he was using a 24/96 recording where HE himself had been one of the performers!
That is about as close to an absolute reference point as one can get in my book.

That in itself makes what he says about this product stand out head and shoulders above most other reviewers imho. Especially since he also mentions that his normal reference dac is a Chord Dave and this recording which he has direct personal experience of from the actual sessions, according to him sounded "significantly better" via the Bartok than via his Dave.

I am eagerly expecting his follow-up review of his Dave with an added Mscaler against the Bartok.
Cheers CC

Hey guys,

I tried to find this in the manual, but I'm wondering if the TT2 gives you any sort of visual indication if you clip the A/D? Intersample or otherwise?

Yeah, I think Barktok also has upsampling built in, so possibly not a fair shootout.
Also worth pointing out that the article’s comparison between Bartok and DAVE was in the context of a power amp/speaker system - DAVE was not mentioned when Bartok was used with headphones. While many use the DAVE in such a system, most would acknowledge that the DAVE is compromised to some degree using a power amp. The DAVE can excel in all kinds of system configuration, but I can’t help feeling it is first and foremost a dac/headphone amp designed for high-to-moderate efficiency headphones. With M Scaler, I even preferred it to the Bartok when powering an Abyss 1266 PHI TC.

I think you are under selling the Dave in a speaker plus amp context. The Dave is extremely transparent and IMHO the addition of a good quality speaker amp such as my Pass Labs XA60.8 takes away very little of that transparency.

Do you guys use roon to tt2 via pc to tt2 or to rob endpoint?
Do you guys use roon to tt2 via pc to tt2 or to rob endpoint?

A Raspberry Pi with a hat like HiFiBerry Digi+ allows you to connect via optical in a very good sounding way. And inexpensive. I stream Roon from a NUC running ROCK to the Pi (as well as other devices, like Poly).

I have found an absolute bargain priced CD-quality triple-album on Qobuz for £8.99.

The Music of Hans Zimmer: The Definitive Collection.

If you have an Amazon Prime subscription or Qobuz then you can listen to it first. However I say just buy it, then listen to it. (Well at least before they realise they are giving it away, then put the price up. Ha. :o2smile: )
