Which XLR Y-cable are you using to run the HEDDphones of the rear XLR outputs? I read elsewhere it's critical that the adapter has the correct pin configuration.

I’m using an adapter from Moon Audio (Blue Dragon cable). It’s wired pins 2 and 3, so balanced. Pins 1 and 3 would give you SE output and power. The cable I’m using is a Canare that is terminated balanced that I was using with some ZMF headphones. Undecided if the stock vs the Canare sound different.

You know how the TT2 USB input is galvanically isolated. Please does it mean that it should not be possible to get a ground loop within the TT2?

Sorry am newb on this stuff.

Or does it just mean something like it's not possible to get a ground loop through the USB?

ground loop is electrical based, the usb is galvanically isolated to prevent rfi and provide the best HD USB connection.

Good morning team!

Trying to fully evaluate the Chord Hugo tt2 I bought a few weeks ago, I would like to ask if you have found any differences in sound performance between xlr and rca connections.

How do you rate the two connections?
Good evening.

Today I dedicated all my breakfast to the acoustic test of the RCA and XLR cables. I can say that I did NOT understand any change in the sound. In A-B switching between RCA and XLR output the quality and intensity remained the same.

I clarify: in my own system all this ..

Finally got my TT2. Definitely an uptick in detail from the TT but not body. It is less warm sounding, more like H2 but without that upper range glare. I’m a bit confused on lo or hi power for my phones. Utopia/HD800s. I feel lo is a bit smoother with greater soundstage. Time will tell as burn in may change things. I will only be using it with cans or iems. Is it worth the upgrade? Diminishing returns I guess. The silver colour is different for me. Maybe a bit brighter than black. Lol.

Here’s the thing. Without upscaling (HQPlayer or mscaler) it definitely is a step up from the TT. Upscaling and filtering significantly level them. TT replaces H2 at bedside. TT2 goes to the Antipodes.

If you have time with it before a return window, then spend as much time listening as possible. You will most likely reach a point where you realise it's exactly right. (Some never do though settle with it though, but it's very rare.)

I thought the USB input was RFI filtered like on the Hugo 2. (Since Rob realised we were using Jitterbug on Mojo.)

Then galvanic isolation was ground loop protection.

Long story. Well get back on it.

It will stay without a doubt. Big kudos to Charles at the Headfoneshop for locating one for me as his stock was messed up with distribution change. Mine came from Bluebird. The price was right as well. Buying sight unseen from him is always stress free. Prog On!

i care less but the HD USB of tt is galvanic isolated, ground loops are issues involving power. I don’t have issues with either nor do I need a faraday cage or ferrets but I digress😉

you get one with TT and use it

I believe that the RCA and XLR outputs are the same so if you hear any difference it would be entirely imaginary.

They're not technically exactly the same. The DAC is single-ended so there is some bit of extra circuitry and signal summing that is used for the XLR outputs.
