Is there a specific external battery pack that he uses for this purpose when traveling? No internal battery. RW uses an external battery for mobile use.

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

I am anxiously waiting. It was mentioned that bass may be perceived distortion. The Chord products are "transparent." I'll be still doing a comparison. Right now my Qutest plays through the Elekit so that probably colors image and bass is deeper but not as powerful as WA 8. I'm just at disadvantage of not having even a TT near to audition.
I have always found though that higher quality, less distorted amps provide better everything including bass.
Is there anyway to connect a turntable to the TT 2, if USB input will be already taken?
Subbed..
I’ve got a slot for the TT2 and will be trading in my Hugo 2!

@Rob Watts For hard driving headphones like the Abyss 1266 Phi, is the balanced XLR output the same audio quality as the SE?

Rob always preferred se direct to TT. Now TT2 has 18w under high gain. I use balanced out on TT and top quality interconnects are Helpful..I beleive rob even preferred rca to xlr...but that didn’t stop me

The Abyss is 42 ohms and 88 dB/mW; with 42 ohms TT2 will deliver 2W from the SE OP; that will give you 121 dB SPL! So unless you want to damage your hearing, the SE is way loud enough....
The balanced OP will give you 8W or 127 dB SPL... The balanced negative OP has the same OP stage as per the SE, but you are adding an extra couple of resistors and a capacitor; this will have a small impact on transparency; but it would be a really crazy inefficient HP that would not be satisfied with the SE OP.

Well, I have a small collection of LP's that I have been completely unable to find a digital version. Given the infrequent listening of these albums the only way is through some type of A-D converter? I haven't begun to look into this, I'm back to considering WA33, since it has analog input and keep Qutest?

Hey Rob, could you work your magic above in red onto my Sennheiser HD800S cans. They are 300ohms so the ear cups say.
Cheers.

At 300 ohm it is 270 mW; you would get 121 dB SPL with the SE OP with the HD800, and that's probably more than what the HP can handle.... Balanced XLR you would be at 127 dB SPL. Remember the threshold of pain is 120dB, and for sure you will damage your hearing at these levels.... You can damage your hearing at 100 dB after 15 minutes, and you should not go above 85 dB for longer than 8 hours.
So TT2 has absolutely plenty of power on the HP sockets.

In your case the best method would be digitizing your LP collection (e.g. to 88, 96 or 192 kHz) and play the files from your computer. You'd need a good soundcard with a good ADC – maybe on loan –, since it's too early to consider Rob's DAVINA, which would be the noncompromizing alternative.Well, I have a small collection of LP's that I have been completely unable to find a digital version. Thanks so much, I'll look into it. I have old version of Sony Sound Forge. Sony loves pay to keep it up to date. I can cut files after recording and entire side. That sounds easier.
