The differences between the K2 and K2M version is, once turned on the k2m stays on, unlike the K2 model which will turn off after 30 seconds if there is nothing drawing power from it. As per your post, there is also a 0.5 amp increase for the 12v rail, from 2.5amps for the K2 and 3amps for the K2M.

However, a €100 increase in price for the K2M version is fxd up.

I wonder if it would be worth buying a k2m for my nuc to see if there was any sonic benefits ?
If you use any power regulators after the battery, before the tt2/mscaler, they may not function if the battery has a minimum draw requirement.
So the M version would be more suitable in those cases.

Oh yes that is a stunner if one really likes percussion going wild!
That or some Indonesian Gamelan Music will easily reveal how good Mscaler is if you´ve got a system that can cope with them.
Or why not Stravinsky´s Rite of Spring.
But I would also claim that in my experience ALL cds are notably improved by Mscaler.
Since getting my Mscaler I have bought over a hundred cds ,mostly second hand, and I did not even listen to cd nor buy any, for many years, before Mscaler.
Cheers CC
Can you recommend a particular release of - Rite of Spring.

Now listening to John Williams StarWars recordings.. amazing how mighty the musical scene gets.. and those clarinets giving such mystical sphere during the quiet pieces. My Rbcd collection grew inmensely since i got my Hms in Xmas last year 🎶 specially with pre '60 masterings

For Roon users, what kind of delay is there when using HMS with max upsampling when 1) starting a song 2) changing a song 3) is there a gapless playback between songs when they finish on their own? Thanks!
Side step. I have JRiver and with Yes "Close to the Edge" the first milliseconds are cut off. No clue. No other recordings seem to pull this trick.

There's a solid Channel Classics recording from 2015 by Ivan Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra. I can only see it in 192/24 on Qobuz, not RedBook.

I have the DSD version, which is also excellent. I have to say, I'm always pleasantly surprised by DSD run through M Scaler.

This is also supposed to be excellent. (2018 NY Phil)

It's nice to see a increase in battery use cases and noticed some chatter on power regulation. While I prefer unregulated non-battery-pack type higher performing audiophile batteries, I understand the safer route to use battery packs for ease of use and safety. I am at the extreme on battery use, so take more risks.

I happened to bump into some posts this week on how romaz and ray-dude incorporate battery packs and the Monoprice Slimrun Optical USB into their system:

They use these regulators in their respective systems circa mid-2020:

Using a PowerAdd battery set to 16V and a DXP-1A5DSC with the pre-regulator output set to 15V and the final regulator output set to 13.5V, the drop in noise floor and the improvement in dynamics and control with my Hugo TT2 is just unbelievably better when compared against the PowerAdd by itself or against the stock 15V SMPS. It's like a completely upgraded DAC with this little device even though this DAC is powered internally with supercaps.

A battery pack + Monoprice Slimrun Optical should make a devastating 1-2 Punch on RFI/EMI. The Monoprice Slimrun Optical USB seems to give you the benefits of Toslink in USB form, although Toslink should still win out in SQ. It should provide optical isolation.

I unboxed my Monoprice Slimrun Optical USB, so I'll play around on how my Hugo2 handles VBUS this week.

NOTE: They use super expensive PCIe USB cards (possible clocks) on the Server End, so your SQ MMV.

I always use chords supplied power supply, as using any 3rd party psu or battery automatically voids chords warranty.

Big hint to the folk posting about using 3rd party psu’s and batteries.

I haven´t listened to the Fischer BFO Rite for a long while , but vaguely remember it as a bit "tame" compared to the recording I had in mind in my earlier post Salonen/LAPO/DGG which is quite a stunner via Mscaler.

Well the recording I was thinking of is one that I only started to really enjoy via my Mscaler.

But it was actually recommened to me by the conductor himself, Esa Pekka Salonen.

Around 2006-2007 I think it was, Salonen came to Stockholm to conduct the Rite of Spring with his old orchestra the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and I was lucky to attend and photograph both the rehearsals and the concert.

This was around the time the majors like DGG and Decca where already beginning to abandon SACD and during an interval I asked Salonen if it was true that there would be no more SACDs from DGG?

But he responded:" No, I have just recorded the Rite of Spring with the LAPO and if you want to hear a recording made the way I hear it from my position on the stage you´ve got to hear it".

It actually turned out to be the last major SACD release from DGG.

When it was released I got the SACD.

But via my systems then, SACD player and small bookshelf speakers, BBC LS35As at that time, and also via my Sennheiser HD650 headphones , I actually found it too close recorded and bloated and blurry as a recording.

But sometime last year I pulled it out again and listened to the cd layer via Qutest/Mscaler and my HEKV2.

Still very close recorded but, WOW what a punch it kicked! And now with much improved clarity during all those dense loud busy parts.

And also via my now much bigger speakers capable of deeper better bass resproduction percussion was more impressive too.
Yes, I could feel the bass as Salonen had said.
And the LAPO play every note and rhytm of that complex score both with a precision and raw power I have not heard from any other recording I have of this work.

Salonen´s DGG Rite is coupled with two other blockbusters, Mussorgsky´s Night on the Bald Mountain in its orginal version, and Bartok´s stunning the Miraculous Mandarin.
My SACD copy is out of print. But the cd only version should still be available, and there is also a native 24/96 pcm download from several download sources.
Cheers CC

I am not sure if it was answered already, but question to @Rob Watts what happens in Mscaler when it receives signal from double BNC inputs 706kHz?
it upscales to 765Khz?
