I believe @Triode User refers to the scenario where Blu2 is used at 0.5Million taps instead of 1M. Many, including Rob Watts, have found that the step from 0.5M to 1M taps is where the M-Scaler magic really happens.

Mojo users are limited to 0.5M by design, while Hugo2 / Qutest users can achieve 1M taps with 2xBNC cables and a cheap adapter. TT2 and DAVE owners can use the dual BNC connectors straight away with 2x BNC cables to enjoy 1M taps.

Hope this helps!

Qutest has dual BNC

what I think is moot, what I found is in that thread. Far better.

Yes chord is trying to create an eco structure for sure. Will m scaler supplant any and all music servers? Will all servers owners must buy an mscaler? Time will tell. I’m in no rush to make a decision.

The mScaler and a music server are fundamentally different things. Music servers may have features like upsampling or their own DAC, but primarily they are used to store and transmit music to a DAC or amp/preamp. The mScaler is a dedicated upscaler that could, in theory, be part of a music server or part of a DAC, but in practice seems to be best implemented as a stand-alone box, between whatever method you want to use to serve your music (bit perfectly) and your (Chord) DAC.

So, I guess in due course mscaler will become a necessity between server and dac. Interesting times, to see if this in fact happens.

yes goes with or without saying, so it backs up the chord ecosystem...

I have a question for @Robwatts. Are the dimensions on the website inclusive of the feet? How much should I subtract for the feet? If I get a TT 2 I am going to order a custom Pelican Case and need it to fit snugly. I am going to order to fit both the mScaler and the TT 2, just in case. Also, the power supplies what are their dimensions?

Thanks!

I like this, your on to something. You actually can think of the m-scaler as a specialized low power computer in a dual computer/renderer setup streaming to the DAC. In essence, the m-scaler makes the primary server less of a factor on SQ. Which is a good thing. Still, regardless of it's diminishing factor, the initiating server (primary) is still a factor, so care needs to be taken on it's design.
But in the big picture it is the lowest factor in the system for SQ, starting with the speakers/headphones as the largest and working back upstream in order of importance.

Including feet its 40.5 mm tall; 235mm wide; and including the BNC is 236 mm deep. PSU (sample I have here): 140*50*30 mm. You need to add something for wire and mais cable. TT2 is 51mm tall, all other dimensions as per Hugo M scaler.

Should of bought the M scaler and connected it to my Oppo player, 2 taps has got to be better than listening to this player for music
What oppo do you have, are you aware of the romaz mod?

How back to front is that. True but how things have changed, Rob watts said he can't hear much difference between sources, so the best dac, M scaler and best headphones or speakers you can afford, strange
