You are right in your assumptions. Any adaptor when used on high speed data cables is not wise practice. As the cable connector itself can cause signal reflections up and down the cable. It’s best to use only properly made properly engineered high frequency cables. Sadly I’m afraid I must say here It’s unwise to purchase those types expensively made by Fred in a shed who hasn’t a clue about good RF engineering signal practices but is still quite happy to stick on a fancy label and charge a very fancy price for his dubious goods.

24k carat gold cable’s and 13amp fuses not your thing I see.

What about platinum ?

deleted as not sure whether it would be seen as a joke.

This is for those contemplating how black and silver pairs color-wise. Personally I like the contrast. Yes, the cabling is a mess right now!

Holy crap the size difference. Makes a black Hugo 2 look like a Mojo.

Coming to the end of my first day with m scaler.

Important question - how do I turn it off?

acord shouldn't OPSR be white??? it's not in your photo.

Switch it off at the mains after you switch hugo2 off first. To power up source then mscaler and finally hugo2.

Will your second day with mscaler begin at midnite?:L3000:

I'm still going... My wife is sitting staring at me while I sit listening to m scaler. I told her it would be like this.... :-)

She knows me well enough by now.

My mini reviews began 4 weeks ago and i've just realised how the addition of a TT2 is integral in maximising what the mscaler can do and aesthetically speaking they really are designed for one another. Hugo 2 has become my bridge to TT2 and when i was a mojo'er hugo2 was my hero. I just need to trade in my h2 asap once the difference is saved. TT2+Mscaler has to be endgame then i have 4 years to experiment with new headphones at my leisure. My mscaler is on its way to the dealer for infra red sensor servicing and something is missing from the music. My neural networks are firmly mscaler adjusted.

I think there was a recent post on one of the chord threads about flickering, and the advice was to ensure that the BNC plugs were fully pushed into the BNC sockets.

Can't pushed BNC plug into the BNC socket. A proper terminated BNC (or GOOD BNC cable) male plug is nicely SMOOTH and LOCKED into the BNC socket, and both the plug and socket are FIRMLY secured. Try other BNC cable otherwise.

Hi @Rob Watts, I have tried using an Audioquest Pearl 3.5mm (1.5m) to RCA cable with RCA to BNC adapters to connect Hugo 2 with M Scaler.

Setting it to any rate works well but in Dual BNC mode the sampling rate flickers intermittently. What kind of cable can you recommend for optimal performance? Thanks!

I have never had issues with Hugo 2 - and I have used cheapo 1.5m cables, and a short bodge cable. It must be a screened cable. As other posters have suggested, try the adaptors and use the supplied BNC cables.

It has auto low power mode, so nothing needed to be done. Low power mode is indicated by all the LEDs going off apart from the OP SR LED.

I have confirmed this by using the cheapest RCA cable bundled in most AV equipment and it worked flawlessly! Maybe there’s something going on inside the Audioquest cable that forks into Y RCA connectors.

I’ve ordered the adapters for the supplied BNC cables. Much thanks!

Great thanks. I assumed you would have thought that one through. And you had..

Many RCA to 3.5mm Jack cables are intended for headphone or audio use and may not be screened or suitable for reliable high frequency digital tranfer. So that is perhaps why it is better to use proper screened bnc to bnc cables and then just have the convertor at the H2 end. Your cheap RCA cable on the other hand is probably screened and why it works.
