I think I saw something like $2.60 the other day, it really frightened me. I don't drive in this city so I don't know from experience, but it was shocking.

I live in Chicago.

Reno, NV is about $2.45 for the crappy Arco & Generic stuff, and around $2.59 for the good stuff (Chevron/Standard, Shell, etc.).

About $2.53 was the cheapest I've seen around the South Bay of LA.

Chicago burbs, about $2.35 for the cheap stuff at a "name brand" station. I've seen it slightly cheaper at the independent stations. Also, this is close to the highest I ever remember it being. It was $2.38 or so a couple summers ago. $2.40+ would be a record as far as I recall. Cheapest I remember seeing is 80 cents a gallon in Indiana in '98 or '99.

Actually, my country is on the fast track to having the highest gas prices in the EU

More than 1/2 of that price is taxes (next to the more than 50% revenue tax). Be happy with what you have.

I filled up with regular last night in Hermiston Oregon at the cheap place for $2.39, I noticed that it was $2.43 downtown there and also here at home.

My car took so little gas over there (compared to my pickup) that I went out and ran it up to 130 mph just to waste some extra fuel.
